“Perfect location, large rooms, nice breakfast.”
Reviewed 16 November 2011

I must say that with all the positive reviews we read in advance the quality of the room was still better than we expected. Large, modern and clean. Individual flexible reading lights on the bed, individual headphones for TV watching in bed, etc. The room even had it's own computer, which is something I have not seen before. The location is very near the Duomo and all major sights in Florence. Breakfast was European, substantial and good quality. The only negative was the male staff who run the place and live in the building. Their attitude was distant, mildly belligerent and bordering on rude (if our room key did not work it was totally our fault?). This could just be a cultural thing as we found most Italian men acted this way. We are used to more polite service in Canada. Anyway, I would certainly recommend this place to anyone visiting Florence. Book ahead, as they have only a few rooms.

Room Tip: They only have about four, so book well in advance or look for a last minute deal.

Excellent place just behind the Duomo. They have just a few rooms. Young couple running the place, very friendly and helpful. Very quiet. Room size good. Breakfast also fine. Price incredibly good for Florence. Everything perfect. Will go back anytime we come to Florence again.
The staff gave us also a great recommendation for lunch and dinner ("Zio Gigi", just around the corner) - an absolutely incredible Tuscan trattoria with virtually no tourists, but lots of atmosphere, excellent home made food, very good wines and stunningly low prices. Nothing for those who cherrish the fancy, but superb for those who seek a truely original Italian atmosphere.

Ghiberti was a welcoming surprise after a long car drive from Cinque Terre and parking in the vicinity of the recommended Parking Lot but not the correct one, for which we paid the price! It became an overwhelming experience of driving in the outskirts of Firenze and we were just relieved to "ditch the car" and then had some confusion in locating the Tourist House towing luggage behind us. Claudio was on the sidewalk to greet us and all of the travel stress melted away and became a lovely stay. Our room was beautiful, large and exquisite and surprisingly quiet for being across from a hospital. The location was perfect for the close proximity to the Duomo, shopping, dining and historical sights - all within comfortable walking distance. Claudio could not have been more helpful in directing arrangements for fly fishing, a Chianti driving tour, taxi and "in general" information for the region. We cannot wait to return someday.

Tourist House Ghiberti is beginning to feel like a home away from home for us. We first stayed here about five years ago, and on our recent visit we felt that the THG has only improved with age and has all the hallmarks of a well-managed property: Impeccable housekeeping and maintenance, tasteful and attractive decorating, useful and much appreciated amenities. Add friendly and helpful staff and a great location. Perfetto!

We had a great stay here. The beds are comfortable and the rooms spacious and clean. The included breakfasts were tasty and included self-boil eggs, assorted pastries, yogurt, cereal, fruits, cheese and meats. Lorenzo and Claudio were both very helpful with restaurant recommendations and any other information you might need. Lorenzo even offered box breakfasts in advance to those of us leaving in the wee hours for the airport. There is a hot tub and a sauna for guests' use.

One restaurant just around the corner that Claudio recommended is Zio GiGi. We LOVED it. It has great food in an informal atmosphere at good prices. We ate there four times. Sometimes you need something close when you've been walking all day.

I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to my friends. It is very close to the Duomo.

Thanks Lorenzo, Claudio, Sarah and everyone else at Tourist House Ghiberti.

I will start with -HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We stayed here during a 2.5-week stay in Italy and it was one of our favorite and most trouble-free accommodations.

We chose this property based on Trip Advisor reviews and it was everything that we hoped for and more. So if you have read some good reviews and are considering staying here, book it and don't look back.

It was one of the most reasonably priced places that we stayed at during our trip, and probably the best located, and without a doubt the best value for the money. Our private tour guide who came to pick us up said, "This is the perfect location. I give tours to people who stay at the Four Seasons, and we have to walk 20 minutes to get to Downtown." It truly is in the heart of Florence - just around the corner from the Duomo, and withing minutes of other sites like the Accademia and the Uffizi. It is in an unassuming building on a street behind the Duomo, and it is surrounded by great restaurants and cafes.

The hotel itself is simple, clean, and comfortable. It is not a luxury place (that is what the Four Seasons is for - 20 minutes away), but it has everything you need, and more, including a FREE laptop computer, which we found to be incredibly useful. Our room was spacious and full of light, and larger than many of the other places we stayed at while in Italy. Breakfast was served on the small and peaceful patio, which we really enjoyed.

The owner and manager, Claudio was incredibly helpful and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He provided a great dinner recommendation (Zio Gigi, around the corner- fantastic) as well as information about the area that was very helpful (including a list of all the museums that were open for free one weekend).

If you are trying to decide whether to stay at Tourist House Ghiberti, I hope that his review can help solidify your decision. You are on the right path and it is a great place to stay. I listened to the travelers on Trip Advisor and am so glad that I did. Highly recommended and we can't wait to return!

Our favourite accommodations during our recent stay in Italy. Big, comfortable and well appointed room, friendly and helpful staff and great breakfasts out on the terrace.

Our room was facing the street, but they had double windows that blocked out nearly all the noise.

Location is fantastic, less that a 5 minute walk to The Duomo.

I would definitely recommend this B&B and when we return to Florence one day, we will stay here again without a doubt.
