“Great place to stay to see the sights of Florence”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Great location and really easy to find! Two minutes from train station and five minutes from the Duomo! Good choice for breakfast in a nearby hotel! Rooms were very clean, and had everything we needed. We had a balcony, with not much of a view! Wifi was excellent and staff were friendly. Downsides - the stairs are quite steep and there's no lift.

Hotel spagna... The rudest staff I've come across. They didnt want to know us. Everything we asked about regarding buses, trains, sight seeing they didnt help us at all! They just replied with "I do not know" the room itself was ok. It was clean. No lift but that's normal for Europe. I would choose another hotel in future.

The hotel is in a great location, I recommend for a short stay. Not especially clean, a little older. Stairs at the very inconvenient if you have a larger luggage. We had a room facing the street, a little noisier, but airconditioner works perfectly so that you can sleep with the window shut. Breakfast is good, across the street from the hotel is the Italian café with the best coffee in Florence.

Very good location. Right opposite the main train station and next to Domus. Lot of restaurants around and is also at starting point of hop on hop off bus.Large rooms and well ventilated Clean place with slightly rude help desk. No lifts and you have to drag the luggage. Other than that great place. I enjoyed my stay.Would recommend all.

We were shocked to find that we had been put on the 3rd.floor, after requesting a low floor as there was no lift.(we are OAP's). The stairs are steep and the hand-rail between the 2nd. and 3rd. floors was loose. The carpets on the stairwell and in the passageways looked as though they needed replacing or at least a good vacuum and clean.
The room itself was fine although the air-con was not working to full capacity.

The thing that shocks us the most is that the hotel has NO LIFT. There seems to be two wings to the building as we crossed over to another building to get to the third floor. So if you travel with luggage, it is not a good hotel to choose. The stairs are very steep, some are narrow too. It looks old and so do the rooms. I don't personally feel comfortable in the room, probably because of the narrow walkways on the way up. The room for triple sharing is rather big though. Shower room is too small with an awkward position of the clothes hanger unable to be reached when I open the shower room door. When I left, the sink was choked. Bad experience.
Once I had to call to get the spare key to my room, they did not offer to open the door for me. I had to walk all the way down to get the key, back up and down and up again to open my room and return their keys. I understand it is like a common key and could mean that I may be able to open any doors!
Good thing is the hotel was about 8 minutes from the Firenze train station. Small walkway to the hotel lobby. Lobby is spacious with a big table, newspapers and a vending machine. I wonder if it is the breakfast area as there is an espresso machine and they charge 1 euro for a cup. That area is also the Wifi area.

We stayed here for one night in May 2013. The room was very simple but perfect for our short stay. The hotel was a very short walk from Firenze SM Novella station and the bus terminal. There were some good shops and restaurants close by as well. We had wireless internet in our room. Good for a short stay. For the price we paid for our room I was more than happy!
