“What an amazing room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 January 2011

We stayed in the suite overlooking the Duomo with a Jaccuzzi in the living room! - just first class - if you can manage it stay there. Breakfast as with all continental hotels is a bit lacking, no restaurant or bar but we didn't mind.

Dear Guest,
thank you very much for your very kind review on Tripadvisor. We are truly happy you enjoyed your room and your overall stay with us and hopefully we will have another chance to welcome you as our guest. We are sorry, though, that we failed to show you that we provide for room service, which includes "à la carte" meals from the restaurant on the ground floor of the Palazzo and that this could have made your stay even nicer.
If you ever come back to Florence, please feel free to get in touch with us for any piece of information you might need.
All the best regards from Palazzo Niccolini

The Palazzo Niccolini al Duomo is a small and intimate hotel that leaves even seasoned and sophisticated travelers with special memories of a lifetime. It was and still is the residence of the famous Florentine Niccolini family. The location is superb--a 1/4 block off the Duomo. The rooms vary from stunning suites to lovely standard rooms. Guests have access to a magnificent room with frescoes where they can read, have tea or an evening drink, and where they breakfast in the morning. The staff makes you feel so welcome. They provide quiet, efficient, and excellent service--making reservations at museums, restaurants, and advising. SueB4

We were delighted with our six nights at the Palazzo Niccolini al Duomo. Everything worked well for us - from breakfast being delicious, plentiful, served by the most friendly and kind woman to the front desk staff who provide a THOROUGH listing of the opening times of every sight you might want to visit in Florence and make calls to reserve for you. Senora Niccolini and her staff suggest good restaurants (never touristy ones) and found us a ride to the train station when no taxis were available at all in Florence. There is a very good restaurant downstairs called Bottega de Donatello. Our laundry came back clean and on time, their slippers were the best of all the hotels we visited in Italy and the availability of tea at any time of night was an amenity offered by none of the other fine establishments at which we stayed on our month-long trip. Also, wi-fi internet was free if you had your own laptop - another special feature that distinguishes this hotel from others.

We were lucky to have experienced two rooms at the Palazzo Niccolini - in room 1 we had the biggest, most splendid bathroom you can imagine and a great bed and cozy room. In room 2, the fresco room, we couldn't believe the size of the room and the luxury it offered with a sofa and seating area in addition to a comfortable, big canopied bed. The hotel upgraded us after our first night. Every day and every request was greeted with a smile. We loved the presence of the owner's dog, Pouldo, which made us feel like guests in a friends' home, rather than paying customers at a hotel. Location was fabulous. Very safe area. I went out at midnight by myself to have a cappucino and write in my travel journal when my husband was tired. Found a great gelato place just down Via dei Servi, too! Splurge if you must to stay with the fabulous folks at Palazzo Niccolino al Duomo.

Don't miss the Museo de la Opera of the Duomo, which is open on Mondays. Excellent museum, just down the street, manageable and much better audio than the one at the Uffizi! Michaelangelo's unfinished Pieta is there along with other great sculptures and artifacts.

I'll be honest, I'm not typically a fan of "B & B" style porperties - I tend to feel like I'm staying at an elderly realatives and have no place to relax other than my room - this is NOT the case here and we absolutely loved this place. I felt as if (and we were) staying in a palace - unbelievably beautiful (and large) rooms with robes/slippers and all the comforts of hoome. Little things like an honor bar available should you feel like a night cap really made the stay comfortable. The staff was fantastic, the location perfect, and the whole experience was a complete and welcome breath of fresh air after our disaterous experience in Venice (another story). Thank you Palazzo Niccolini al Duomo!!!

Perfect location, beautiful rooms. Due to our flight being delayed we arrived at 2o'clock in the morning, tried ringing at the door but no answer and the phone was on answer machine! The police eventually came along and guided us to an alternative hotel for the night. We were upset the next day as we had let them know that we would be arriving late. However the rest of the stay more than made up for it with a fantastic room and good attention (they refunded the night we missed). Would definately recomend here for a very special stay in Firenze!

Vacation with my mother. Stayed in a room with frescoes and Duomo views for four nights. PRO: hotel itself (room, common areas, see pics), like period rooms at museums - truly loved it. CON: expensive FINAL THOUGHTS: probably won't go back. once is enough. would like to try other hotels with historic atmospheres when in Florence (there are plenty.)
