What a lovely place to stay in Florence

Review of Bellevue House
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Oct 2017
Despite being on the 3rd floor without a lift -a beneficial thing really given the amount and quality of the food - this was a delightful place to spend our four nights in Florence. Bellevue is within walking distance to SantaMaria Novella railway station and to the main attractions in the city. Bars and restaurants are numerous and within easy reach - breakfast is not available at the property
Across the street is the 17C perfumery started by the monks of SMN well worth a visit for their products and the 14C frescoes in one of the rooms.
Luciano gave us a comprehensive rundown on the local area and is unfailingly pleasant
Room facilities are clean and well maintained

Excellent service upon arrival at Bellevue House. Luciano received us warmly, providing useful info on on what to see and do in Florence. Also very good suggestions for food. Room was very comfortable and we enjoyed our short stay. Will revisit Florence and stay at BH

My stay at the Bellevue House in Florence was excellent. The rooms were very clean and the service from the owner was outstanding. Luciano was very friendly and very helpful with suggestions on things to do while we were in Florence. His restaurant recommendations were excellent. He was very helpful with all of our needs and requests.

You may have to walk 90 stairs- but well worth it! The staff is so willing to help you- great recommendations for food, shoppping! Comforters are awesome!
Location is right in the middle of town- everything is so convenient!

We arrived late at night and the keeper is very helpful to wait for us and even help us to carry the biggest luggage to 3rd floor ! The house is situated in a very convenient location to most attractions and landmarks. Room is clean except for a couple of loose floor tiles which could have been repaired in time.

Chose this hotel as it was close to train station. Given direction by email 2 days before we arrived which was nice. Doorway difficult to locate when we arrived. It is more like a hostel than a hotel. There are 90 steps to climb but the owner and his son are happy to carry your luggage. They will give you advice on nearby restaurants and cafe. Our room was spacious and clean.
However there are negatives. Housekeeping is a hit and miss. The room was not cleaned 1 day. The main negative is the 90 steps, especially after a long day of sightseeing.

Dear Guest, Many thanks for your nice review. To be honest we are not ( and never say we are ) an Hotel, we are licensed as a guest house ( if we were an Hostel we would have had dorms ) The issue of the stairs is clearly displayed within the most important information stated in our pages with the online travel agencies we work with and that comes before guests decide to make a firm booking, sorry if you missed the information. Also sorry for not having cleaned your room for one day, I am afraid that my chambermaid thought you were still in the room, when these kind of things happen, we are pleases to provide new towels etc. At any rate many thanks for your compliments regarding the room being spacious and clean and our willingness to help with your luggage through the stairs. Hopefully one day the Fine Arts Board will give us a permission to install an elevator in our fifteenth century building. Have a nice day, Luciano Michel and family
