Just steps from the Duomo, this charming small family run hotel is immaculately clean, affordable and in the heart of Florence. I stayed here several times in the late 90's in January and June and was treated like family. Breakfast is served in a small room behind reception and is included. No bar, but you can bring in your own wine and they will keep it in the kitchen for you. I prefer a room on an upper floor, higher the better, at the front of the hotel overlooking the street. There is no more glorious experience of lying in bed and hearing the boom boom boom of the Duomo bells ringing out, the same sound that has rung out for 500 years over these same roof tops.. affordable restaurants are within a few steps of the front door. I recommend this Hotel for those on a tighter budget. The owners will make you feel at home, and will organize trips, train tickets, restaurant reservations, order taxis, send out your laundry, whatever you need.

Room Tip: high floor front are best.. located on a narrow ancient street so no scenic view to speak of.

Great location and that's about it. Staff was extremely rude and judgemental. They would not let my brother, who was staying at a hotel down the street, even enter my hotel room for a minutes, and started talking about my poor character for having a boy in my room. They were completely out of line. They also do not allow guests, forcing them to wait in the lobby. Rooms are also very small. There are many other options in the same area, and staying anywhere else would be a more pleasant experience.

OK, here is the real scoop...This is a very nice hotel and nicely priced for Florence....The location is outstanding!!..30 second walk to the Duomo and and easy walk to all the major sites in Florence...Front desk is very helpful...Rooms are a bit small..spend a little more and do not get the economy room as it is smaller!...Shower is small but adequate..Room is very clean and quiet(at least ours was!!-ask for room 101!)...Breakfast is the usual Italian-yogurt, hard boiled eggs,crossant...only complaint is the poor cuppucino..however, can get around the corner for 1.5 euro!
Places to eat..the pizza shop right around the corner(exit hotel, go left and first left-it is right there) is the best!!!!!..Also Palio and La Posta are very good..you will not run out of good places to eat!!
Nice place to stay as you can pop in and out during the day as the location is so central!!

The hotel is a very friendly, family run facility. Located in the heart of the historical sites and shopping. We walked everywhere. They made every effort to fulfil all our needs. Rooms are modern and clean and well maintained, even for a 600 year old building. We had a sitting room as well as bed and bath. Breakfast was served by the owner every morning with endless cappuccino. Good restaurants nearby. Language was not a problem. We would definitely stay here on our return trip.

Room Tip: I heard no complaints from other guest.

Just returned from two weeks in Italy, and spend four nights of it at Hotel Benivieni. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great - after seeing our preferences the first day, our hostess greeted us every morning with cappuccino! Our room was a bit small by American standards, but because we needed a quad we did expect to be a bit more crowded in Europe than we would be in the States so it was really fine. We were quite comfortable, just cozy! The bathroom was renovated, roomy and well appointed. The best selling point for this hotel is it's location - absolutely centrally located, an easy walk to any attraction and located on a quiet street. Would absolutely recommend.

The Hotel Benivieni is a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Firenzie, right around the corner from the Duomo. The rooms are clean and pleasant and the staff helpful and friendly. I have stayed there twice and would stay there again given the opportunity. It is walking distance from the train station and all of the must see attractions in the city are within walking distance as well.

In the heart of Florence. Convenient , walking distance to all main historical sites. The owner is very pleasant and willing to help anyway she can . Great breakfast . If you arrive in your car , the owner will suggest the valet service which is very convenient because driving in Florence is crazy .
