“You get what you pay for”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

We stayed for two nights in two rooms as a family.
We were disappointed as when we checked in we were told that we would have to change rooms for our double room after the first night. A real hassle when you are sightseeing all day. We had to rush around after the first night and pack our stuff then leave it in our second room, as we couldn't put it straight in the other room they moved us to. The double room we moved to smelt like cooking smells which I think came from the restaurant downstairs. Apart from that the hotel is in a very good location. The rooms are tired but you get what you pay for and as far as central hotels go it was avery reasonable price. They let us store our bags till 6 pm the day we checked out so that was helpful. Reception is on the first floor so getting bags up the first two flights of stairs was a pain, after level 1 there is a tiny lift which fits one person and a bag.
We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, there is a cafe down the street which was good.
Overall the location was excellent but the beds were old and hard and we didn't sleep well there.

Good evening!

we are sorry of your review.

Unfortunately, in a hotel the unexpected can happen as you know, and the moved from a room to another one is one of these.
Will have noticed that the night before we assigned you a triple room that was booked the next day, otherwise we would not have bothered you, of course!!
It seems excessive to give as grade 2 just for this fact, but we respect your idea

See you soon!

Grazie

The Hotel Lorena is across the road from the Medici Chapel so a great landmark when you get lost and also very central to most of the churches and museums.
There is a lift but it starts from reception on the first floor.
My room was perfect for my needs, clean, comfortable and a view. The room has external shutters, the 2 seperate windows that open and provide double glazing, then timber doors. With all closed you nothing frm the outside world with them all open the noise that is Florence floods in.
I have a shared bathroom but whenever I have wanted to use it it was available.

Room Tip: I have room 35 and have a view of the dome

Very good accommodations despite it does not have elevators. It was allowed to us set early check in. The hotel probably is owned by a family and it brings an special environment.... like your house. Thanks.

I and my husband stayed at Hotel Lorena in May 2014. I have to admit at first I was a little skeptical about all the reviews stating how good it was, but when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. I loved it here. For the price this is most definitely the best value. The elderly man and his wife that run the place are extremely nice and helpful. About a 10 min walk to the hotel from the train station and all other sites were within walking distance too.
If we ever go back to Florence Italy I would most definitely stay here again. Thank you Hotel Lorena for making our stay a wonderful one!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bathroom in the room if you don't want to share with other guess. Rooms h...

Great little hotel and everything you would want to see in Florence is within walking distance. We stayed here for four nights in May and it was certainly worth it.Even though Via Faenza is a busy street with lots of shops and restaurants the room was quiet at night.Breakfast is good. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. They even have an elevator.some advice-don't len too hard on the doorbell. If youare going to Florence, stay here .It's worth every penny.

Found this hotel on tripadvisor and booked it for our stay in Florence from 26th to 28th April. It is run by an Italian family and the members were very helpful.7mins walk from the station and near to most of the attractions.Plenty of eating joints around. We had a double and a single bed,the room overlooked the main street. The bathroom was spacious and clean, wifi was also good. Breakfast was included because we agreed to pay for the room in cash. The eating area was warm and cosy with a homely feel and the capacchino was excellent. The receptionist was very helpful in getting the tickets for the Uffizi museum prebooked so that we didnot have to stand in the long queue. More than 50 leather purse shops just round the corner....donot forget to bargain.

It's always nerve-racking booking a hotel in a faraway location. You always worry that it might just not live up to your expectations. My new husband and I wanted an affordable, very central florence hotel that above all was friendly and clean. Hotel Lorena went above and beyond our expectations. The location is super central- 3 minutes walk from the station and we had views out of one window of the medici chapel and of the Duomo out of the other. There were lovely little shops and restaurants right on Via Faeza and the hotel made use of a secure 'buzz in' entry system. We overlooked a lovely little piazza which was lively, but the room had 2 levels of soundproofing windows when we wanted a bit of piece and quiet. And it was nice to wake up to the sunshine and the buzz of the city below. The room was serviced every day and was super clean. All the staff at the hotel were beyond helpful (providing free travel adapters, luggage storage, directions to the train station, and the most detailed explanation of our receipt on departure that I have ever received!). We had an absolutely lovely 4 night stay at the Hotel Lorena and we will be recommending it to anyone traveling to Florence. : )

Room Tip: We had room 33 which was ensuite and had excellent views.
