This is a small hotel about 10 minutes walk to the train station and the major tourist attractions. The Central Market was very close and many restaurants were within easy walking distance. Breakfast was good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the lovely breakfast waitress, and the rooms were clean. However, our room and the beds (twins, despite booking a double) were small. My husband is tall, and his feet were about 6 inches past the end of the bed. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay and the location.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are away from the street and quieter.

Hotel Caravaggio is a short bus ride from the train station. It is situated across the road from a park and within easy walking distance of everything you would want to see in Florence. Our triple room and bathroom were spacious by any standards, let alone Italy's. The room was air-conditioned and it was a wonderful cool retreat after a hot day checking out this beautiful city. We were also provided with a kettle, tea, coffee and milk - what a treat this was. The Reception, cleaning and breakfast staff were all friendly, helpful and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. We would not hesitate to return to this lovely Hotel and would highly recommend. Thank you Hotel Caravaggio for a memorable stay.

Room Tip: If you'd like a quiet room, ask for one. We asked for a quiet room and our room was so very quie...

Good hotel, reasonable breakfast. Location is excellente [Santa Maria Novella Station (750 m), Mercato di San Lorenzo (350 m), Duomo (750 m), Galleria della`Academia (650 m), Ponte Vecchio (1,4 km), Santa Croce (1,7 km), Piazza Santo Spirito-1,8 km (restaurants Tamero and Borgo Antico)]. Sightseeing tour point in Piazza dell`Indipendenza. Good restaurants and sweetmeats in the region plus a great "Birrificio" (Mostodolce)-120 m.

We stayed at the Hotel Caravaggio and found it very good in terms of location and amenities. A few minutes walk to the major sites in Florence (Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, etc.) and close to the S.M Novella train station. Nice breakfast spread and beautiful outdoor patio with a couple of tables if you get their early. Ask for a interior room because the hotel is across from a park and Florence can be very noisy at night (especially with street vendors putting away their carts into storage lockers on the streets each night).

My wife and I, and another friend stayed here a few years ago. The staff was very friendly, and accommodating. The rooms were among the most comfortable that I experienced in all of Italy. Nice windows that opened to the park. The snacks at breakfast were nice too...and the location was fantastic. Our daughter was in school in Florence at the time and her apartment was around the corner. It wasn't too expensive either. All in all, we are planning a trip back to Firenze this year, and plan on staying at the Hotel Caravaggio! Ciao Bella!

Room Tip: Sorry, we stayed in the same room both times we visited....I can't remember the number.

Stayed here in June 2014 for 4 nights. Stayed in room 213 on the first floor. Room was basic but was clean. There was air conditioning, tv, small fridge and in room safe. Room was cleaned every day and we found all the reception staff to be very helpful. Plenty of food on offer at breakfast; fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, yoghurt, bread rolls, cheese and meats. This was replenished throughout the morning. We didn't have any issues with noise but our room faced the rear of the property. Very good location, about 10 minute walk from SMN train station and about the same to Duomo. The room was quite small but this is usual in Italy. This wasn't a problem for us as we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel as there is lots to do in Florence. If you want modern and fancy this isn't for you but we had no complaints.

Room Tip: ask for a rear overlooking the rear if you are bothered by noise

The hotel is located within walking distance to the Firenze SMN station and city centre which is very convenient. There is also a mini-mart nearby where we could buy of supply of drinking water (hotel didnt provide). There is a street market that sells t-shirts, hats, leather goods within 2 streets from the hotel.

Condition of the hotel is not great. An old hotel that is in critical need for upgrading. As we arrived in the morning, our room is not ready. When we asked to leave our baggage so we can walked around first, we were told to just leave them in a corner. Although everything's intact when we returned, we didn't feel that our baggage was in good hands. The flooring of the room is of, what I believe, to be terracotta. I've never seen a hotel room with such flooring. Just didn't feel clean and they only provided one pair of bathroom slippers though my room is a quadruple room. Breakfast spread is limited and they are slow in replenishing the food.

Agreed with the other reviews that it is noisy as room faced a busy street.

Dear Guest,

thanks for taking the time to comment, it is very important for us to know what our guests think of the services that we offer and it 's a great opportunity to explain to our guests of the things that probably were not well understood.

In the specific case of your review we are very keen to point out that every room is equipped with mini-bar, where in addition to soft drinks, soda, nuts, snacks etc.. is also provided mineral water still and sparkling.

The 3 star hotel is in Florentine Art Nouveau style and the high quality flooring is technically called "cotto fiorentino" with a special treat for hotels (not terracotta). Probably the other hotels where you were prefer carpet or other materials but the Florentine tile is one of the most hygienic materials suitable for hotels.
Probably you do not particularly like this style, but this does not mean that "the hotel is old and in need of modernization" .... it's just his particular style and not true to say that the hotel is in critical condition because every six months we provide to completely repaint all the rooms, there are no sinks failures, or any other equipment that does not work perfectly, and when something happens that breaks down shall arrange for replacement immediately.

About our kindness in allowing you to leave your luggage at the hotel at no charge having arrived much earlier than the official check-in time, it would have been kind advise us if you did not feel at ease and leave your luggage with an additional cost , to the luggage deposit at the main train station Santa MAria Novella.

Regarding the breakfast you wrote " Breakfast spread is limited"...
Please, send us an email suggesting what else we should to serve to our guests in addition to a variety of sweet products (four types of cakes, biscuits, pies, cake, cookies of various types, various types of jams, chocolate etc) and all the savory items (four kinds of sandwiches, a variety of cheeses , ham, salami, sliced turkey, boiled eggs, fresh tomatoes, fresh seasonal fruit, variety of breads dry salted etc etc).
Your suggestions are very welcome.

About the noise, we constantly implement new soundproofing systems and we really thank you for letting us know.

Hopefully if and when you come back to the hotel, we will have erased any possible noise from the street.

Regards
Leonardo Hotel Caravaggio Firenze
