“Wonderful Hotel Davanzati!”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

My husband and I recently returned from a 3 week trip in Italy, with 5 days in Florence in the middle. Our stay at Hotel Davanzati was truly wonderful! Our room was spacious, beautiful and very clean. We had a separate walk in closet which was a great feature. The room was a calm and quiet respite from the busy city, and we did spend a couple of hours there every day relaxing before a late dinner out. Very quiet and comfortable, despite all the activity at the height of tourist season!

We enjoyed a glass of prosecco or wine (or two) and snacks each evening after tromping around Florence all day. Met some lovely fellow Canadians (Calgarians) who we enjoyed having a drink with!

Breakfast was very nice with a good selection of yogurts, meat, cheese, buns and breads. Good cappuccino!

The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance to Everything!! Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi, Pitti Palace, Markets, high end shopping, the Arno river, etc., etc. Even if (when) you get lost in the maze of streets, you are never far from the hotel. Great location! The 26 steps to get into the hotel just makes it more cozy! (By the way, check out the Davanzati museum next door, worth a visit, though not always open!)

Staff were friendly, accommodating, and very helpful.

We loved our visit to Florence and we loved this hotel! It's our go to accommodation in Florence!

Fabulous location for visiting the sights of Florence. Nicely furnished rooms, very clean & comfortable. Very friendly, helpful & knowledgeable owner who recommended restaurants & made reservations for us. The Happy Hour was a nice extra and at breakfast there was an excellent selection. Would thoroughly receommend staying at this hotel - you won't be disappointed.

We wrote to the hotel via e-mail several times and the courteous and efficient hotel staff arranged reservations ahead of time at several museums and restaurants. They confirmed our status via e-mail and also presented us with a listing of what had been arranged when we checked in. No matter what the request, the staff was quick to respond and very helpful. We were given excellent tips on food, cash machines, and taxi info. The location was superb, making it a short walk to virtually everywhere and anywhere in Florence. The room was large and attractive. Yes, it was rather expensive, but for the location, assistance and peace of mind it was well worth it. They offer a significant discount for paying in cash.

This is a very sweet place. Just make it up the steep steps from the street and you'll be rewarded with a tasteful and refreshing hotel. Free wine at the happy hour, meet fellow travelers. We did for of us in the suite. A good value. Would def. one back.

This hotel was very well located for exploring Florence. It was one of the few places in Italy where we were able to get adjoining rooms for us and our kids (family of 5). It is close to shopping and restaurants. They booked our tickets to see David and our pizza cooking class. The hotel is in a very old building so it is interesting. It was clean but not fancy. It was fine for our needs and reasonable priced. Breakfast was limited but fine and the cappuccinos were great.

Room Tip: They do have adjoining rooms for 5 that have a private patio.

This was a highly recommended hotel and it didn't disappoint. It's located in the heart of Florence and makes all sightseeing convenient. Right there near restaurants, shopping, the market, the churches, movie theater, the square....you can't ask for a better location while still preserving quiet as it's on a narrow street. The family that owns/runs the hotel (3 generations) are kind and personable and really want to help you make the most of your stay. They recommended an activity that we were thrilled to do....travel/tour in a Bentley Limo for 1.5 hours with Prosecco to a bluff overlooking the city while learning about this glorious city. It was thrilling. Yes, the tour company is part of the same family but it's fun, exciting, convenient, and the views were breathtaking. We got out there at the copy of David and took photos then walked to a bar and got another drink and toasted to this glorious city. The rooms and nicely sized, clean, and the happy hour at the hotel was a huge treat. We ran into people from our home town, Jacksonville, Florida! Free wine and appetizers along with a lovely breakfast each morning along with personable hosts....just wonderful. There are quite a few stairs to reach the lobby. You must consider this when making arrangements to stay.
