If you're looking for service this is not the place. Rooms are very clean. No aircon just a fan. Hot water is limited and plenty of stairs to climb. You have to be in by 1am or you sleep on the street. Overall good location if you disregard the rest.

The hotel is very clean and in a really great part of the city. It is one of the nicest places we have stayed as college backpackers but the hostess made us horribly uncomfortable. She got upset with me for knocking on her office at 22:01 because reception officially closes at 22:00. She doesn't give you you own key and always acts so bothered to answer the door for her. Internet is pretty bad and she won't give you the password, she has to type it in herself and acts annoyed at you. You can't stay out past 1 in the morning and sharing a bathroom is tough because there is only one shower. We give it three stars because of how comfortable the rooms are, but would not go back again because of the service. Backpackers beware!

I spent two nights in this hotel because I wanted to visit the city with my girlfriend and our friends recommended it. The staying was comfortable and wonderful, the building is located really close to Duomo Square (in the city center) and from our room we could see Giotto's Campanile! The room was nice and cozy, had a clean bathroom and was quiet considering the position. People working there are lovely and helpful for all types of information (what to visit, how to reach places, what typical foods to eat and so on). In general considering that is a one star hotel, it offers a good quality service and I really felt home being in contact with the friendly staff! I really would like to come back for another staying in future :)

The lady who owns the hotel is rude and inhospitable. She practically left my friends and I on the streets despite a desperate situation. Though it seems like a good location it is noisy and the staircase is awful - there is not even a lift for luggage. Though it is inexpensive, it's not worth your money. Look elsewhere.

I'm gonna have to go ahead and put the haters in the "hard to please" category for this hotel. A short walk from the train station, and around the corner from the duomo; you couldn't ask for a more convenient location. We spent two nights here, and I have zero complaints. We had a double room with shared washroom, and it cost us less than €130. The room/toilet were clean, the lady running the hotel speaks seven languages, and she was incredibly friendly. I can appreciate how some people may be put off by having to buzz in, and leave their room key when going out for the day.... No I can't actually. Suck it up, buzzing into a hotel seems pretty common around here. If you're trying to see Florence on a budget you really can't go wrong with this option. The hotel closes at 0100, but after walking around Florence all day; and the fact that the city shuts down at 1800 there isn't much need to be out later than that anyway. You're paying a reasonable price for a bed to sleep in. I believe it was cash only at check in, so that's something to be aware of. If you're looking for something a bit more swanky, then look elsewhere; however be prepared to pay a lot more.

Before anyone puts me in the "whinging / hard to please category" please let me say that I have been traveling through Europe with my partner for the past 5 weeks and have nothing but great things to say about all the hotels we have stayed in. Unfortunately that stops here. Save your money, do not stay at this hotel. The woman who claims to be the owner has no hospitality skills & the place feels like a prison. You have to buzz in & out, there are video cameras everywhere, as soon as you leave your room she pounces on you to hand your room key over to her. To make matters worse the rooms are noisy from the streets below from the restaurants until about midnight (we was woken on our first night at 1am with someone drunk on street spewing) the street sweeper then comes past at about 4.30 so my advise is to make the most of the quite time between 1 & 4 if you want any sleep.
After day 2 we decided to loose our next nights accommodation and head on to our next spot - cinque Terri (which we cannot fault - amazing here!!)
Oh I forgot to say lone good thing at least the room was clean.

The location is what really sells this characterful pensione in the heart of Florence. The Duomo is right outside the front door practically, the train station is a short walk and it is less than 10 minutes to many major attractions, such as Uffizi gallery, Accademia gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. The street it faces onto is very busy, so I would suggest requesting rooms facing onto the quaint backyard but on the plus side, there are some nice eateries very close by. The 1am curfew was not a problem for us, given we were there to sightsee. Although the bathroom was separate, it was next door to our room and private, as well as spotlessly clean. The staff were helpful and warm, although it does help if you have done your research prior to turning up and have cash ready for payment/ understand that keys are handed in when you go out etc. All in all we had a great time in Florence and this central, good value accommodation met our needs. A safety security box would have been a helpful addition to the room, as well as wifi but they were not necessities.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room at the back or take some ear plugs.
