5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2012

The location of Cimatori is great. Right next to Piazza Signoria and the Uffizzi. Room was very clean with AC and Domenico and Valeria were really nice hosts. Will definitely come back here if in Florence!!

My Husband and two grown teenagers stayed several nights in August in one room for four. Despite the hot weather the room was nicely cooled. I read a few previous reviews and must say I heard no street noise at all. Location could not have been better. We easily walked everwhere we wanted to go. The breakfast each morning was very nice!

We have just returned from our wonderful trip to Italy. We spent the last week in Florence and enjoyed our time there in the Cimatori apartment very much. The location in Florence is unbeatable, halfway between the Duomo and Piazza Vecchio. Getting around on foot was very simple, although we confess to taking a turn in the wrong direction from time to time in the old and tiny streets - this was not a problem, just more fun in this charming place.

The apartment is in an ancient building but has been beautifully adapted for the purpose with fresh furnishings and sparkling clean bathrooms. Having two bathrooms was a bonus for our family of two adults and two young adults 19, 16. The kitchen was thoughtfully provisioned, although it would be somewhat impractical to cook everything there as there is a two burner hotplate in place of a full stove. We didn’t take the opportunity to raise this with Dominico until the day before we left and he said that he would have found a better solution... our miss. Otherwise everything else is very well organized. As a bonus, there is a large grocery store in the bottom of the building so shopping was not a problem.

The apartment itself is very dark as its main windows are all sited in an internal courtyard. There is therefore no view and very little light. This did not deter from our enjoyment as we were on the go all day every day, but for those spending a lot of time indoors, this may be an issue.

Dominico and his staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, assisting us to book a taxi for 5 am and allowing us to use their facilities to print our boarding pass for the return home.

We were a family of 4 and stayed for two nights in the best place in our entire Italian holiday.
Late check in as we arrived late from Venice ,the owner arranged the keys to be at the restaurant opposite which served the great meal and friendly people.
This BB is located in the most suitable location to explore Florence on foot equidistant from all places of interest
Great location , comfort , very helpful owner.
I will rate it 5 star

The location of this B&B is wonderful. It's easy to get to all the major sites of Florence easily from the hotel. The owners were helpful in recommending some restaurants and orientating us to the map of Florence. We stayed in the room with an unattached bathroom, which was fine as it was just across the hall and there was only one other room in the area. The staff was also very accomidating in letting us keep our bags around until we left later in the afternoon.
The street noise was pretty loud in our room. We were on the second floor and even with the window closed we could hear the street below. Also anytime doors were opened throughout the building you could hear them in the rooms. This may have been mitigated if the air conditioner was turned on, but they hadn't been turned on yet.

I'm very sorry but also surprised about the noise from the street because the room they are talking about is faced on and inside courtyard .

As most reviewers have mentioned, the location is very convenient.
At the reception, the B&B owners would provide a free detailed map of Florence, and mark the B&B's location, in addition to all the other attractions' locations.
Just a straight route that takes only 7 mins or so of leisure walk would lead you to the Uffizi.
Galleria dell' Accademia takes under 30 mins of leisure walk. The same applies to Pitti Palace.

And with luggage, the B&B is just 20 mins' walk from the Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station. But without a detailed map, it would a little challenging to find the B&B, due to the obscured road signs. Try getting a detailed map, as the google map just won't do. The directions on the B&B website are accurate, but without knowing which perpendicular minor roads you are passing, it would be tough to ensure that you are on the correct path.

The B&B is in a nice building, which may look old on the outside, but is very well-furnished inside.
There are quite a number of stairs to walk up, so for those with weak knees or too much luggage (owners would gladly help you with luggage if you request), do note.

There are multiple doors leading to bedrooms, and you would be given multiple keys to unlock them, so security is well taken care of. I had a private bathroom that is outside my bedroom, so I also had a key for that.

The bedroom (blue, on the first storey) was spacious, had all I needed, and had space for yoga practice. There is wifi, though the connection is not always stable in the room I was in, but moving closer to the door did the trick. The building, I believe, is considerably old, so the walls might be a little thin. Conversation and television noises are audible, but was never too loud to rouse me from sleep.

The pantry was just round the corner, and there was supply of water, fruits, juice, milk, white bread, yoghurt, tea, coffee, espresso, cereal and condiments. That would be what you could have for self-service breakfast. The owners would leave some croissant and additional bread in the pantry between 0830 and 1030.

There is no access to the rooftop, as it does not belong to the owners.
However, they are very responsive to requests, and leave their mobile numbers despite not being at the reception desk after stipulated hours. I had problems with the first floor lock and my air con remote control, and the owner worked to solve it for me. I was very happy with their service.
