“Cute apartment in central location”
Reviewed 16 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed here for just over a week. The apartment was as described. The booking and check in were very easy. It's located a very short walk from the Duomo and all of the historic centre is easily accessible on foot. It is reasonably large and the 2 bedrooms are quite separate from each other, which is good if you need privacy. There is additional sleeping in the loft, but I think more than 4 would be a bit much. The apartment was very secure behind 3 doors.

A really nice restaurant/bakery was downstairs - you could easily get a pastry in the morning and and we ate lunch there a couple of times, it was great food!

The wifi was excellent, it always worked.

The only negative was that it was quite noisy due to building work at nearby museo degli innocenti, which started early in the morning. This is a busy part of Florence!

Another point to note is that the lift is restricted to owners, so we had to use the stairs, this was great for our fitness but would not suit people with mobility issues.

“Wonderful location - perfect for our family”

We loved this apartment. It was perfectly suited for our needs as a family of 5, including 2 teenage girls and one preteen boy. It is wonderfully located on Via dei Servi, about 5 minutes walk directly north of the Duomo and literally around the corner from the Galleria dell'Accademia. I'll say this again – the location really was perfect. The apartment is on the 3rd floor (second floor in Europe, with the ground floor being level 0) so be prepared for steps (there is a small elevator mostly for luggage). Apartment Magda is a comfortable apartment in an 18th century building, with 2 full bedrooms and a loft, providing extra sleeping possibilities. They have managed to have 2 full baths available, which would make this serviceable also for 2 couples travelling together. It has character, in a good way that sets it apart from cookie cutter hotel rooms. There are 3 doors between the street and the apartment, so we felt very secure while we were there, and we let the teenagers explore on their own in the vicinity. Magda was very friendly and attentive to our needs during the reservation process, and checked in on us once during our stay via email to make sure we were happy. The contract was standard and transparent and everything was upfront. Magda's son met us when we arrived and made sure we were settled and gave us some local recommendations. He was available to help with any problems, but we never had any. One of Florence's best pastry shops is literally downstairs, so that is where we had our morning coffee every day (standing up of course) with the locals. There are plenty of choices for restaurants both on via dei Servi and on the surrounding streets and there is a grocery store a few blocks away. All in all, this is a very comfortable apartment in the heart of Florence that is quiet and secure. We are really happy we stayed there as we felt much more in tune with the local flavor compared to staying at a hotel. It served our needs perfectly and enhanced our trip to Italy. We would definitely stay there again when we return to Florence, which we are most certainly planning on doing. We love Florence.
There are plenty of shops in the historical district of Florence. Our 2 teenage girls definitely enjoyed wandering through the different streets and visiting the shops that caught their eye. The city has some of the country’s best goldsmiths so as a special memory of this trip we decided to buy each girl a simple gold necklace. We were hesitant to take on the busy shops along the Ponte Vecchio. Based on a recommendation we instead went to The Gold Market at Piazza Santa Croce, 20. We had an excellent experience with the highly knowledgeable and personable staff and remain extremely happy with our purchases. To see the major sites of Florence with our kids, we booked a tour with Pinocchio Tours (see separate review). This was an excellent investment that eased the burden on us while enriching our family’s cultural and historical understanding of this incredible city
