Firenze Number Nine Wellness Hotel
Ranked #20 of 410 Hotels in Florence
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 6 October 2013

After staying for 4 nights in this hotel I was absolutely convinced that I've made the best choice of my trip to Florence. The location was excellent as everyone else has mentioned. The decoration and design was contemporary and cosy. The breakfast venue was thoughtfully laid out in five areas with different themes, and the food was really good with a lot of choices. We have free access to the Spa which was good for unwinding after a day's activities. The best part of the hotel however I believe was the service and the staff - all of whom were very friendly and helpful, attending to every detail (booking tours, making restaurant reservations, etc) & making us feel at home. Do I have complaints? Yes some minor ones like the shower door sometimes not sealing properly, which I think is not too difficult to fix. Despite this minor flaw I still think Firenze Number Nine should deserve a five star rating.

Not cheap, the Number Nine, but it does make you feel special so well worth the extra money.

We arrived to be told we'd been upgraded to a suite which is always good to hear. The reception on arrival, drinks, luggage taken to the bedroom, all faultless and smoothly done. Loads of wow factor with this place, and every hotel facility was shown to us. So 100% for all of that. Breakfasts also receive 100% as the food was plentiful, varied and service was great.

The only slight let down was the room. No shelving in the huge and stylish bathroom for the guests to put their own toiletries. Shelving in the wardrobe was minimal too. What the management should do here is get members of the senior staff to stay here themselves and experience the product because these tiny irritations would soon be ironed out. Style is important but should never replace function.

I'll still give them five stars. Why? Because of the upgrade, the superb central location near the Duomo, and the wow factor.

We stayed at Firenze Number Nine for four nights at the end of September in a premium room on the top floor with views of the Duomo and Medici Cathedral dome, room 410. There are many exceptional qualities which earn this hotel 5 stars; LOCATION. The hotel is 2 minutes from the Duomo, 10 minutes from Ponte Vecchio, 5 minutes from the train station and set on a quiet street). THE STAFF. One can run out of all the best adjectives to describe the level of service at this hotel. Everyone was exceptional from the breakfast staff to the front desk (thanks for everything Alessandro and Yanni). The staff at the front desk are always available to help you find a great place for dinner or drinks and the best places to visit. FOOD. The breakfast was one of the best I have had in Europe and someone is always around to offer you a cappucino in the lobby or complimentary snacks. Fantastic. Also, the drinks and small snacks in the mini-bar are complimentary. This is a nice touch. ROOMS. There are 45 rooms and ours was large, very comfortable with a great shower and beautiful views.

Sometimes it is difficult to explain what makes a trip to a special city like Florence so amazing; the food, the attractions, the shopping? But in this case our hotel truly made our trip unforgettable. Thanks Hotel Number Nine, we will definitely be back!!!

Room Tip: All rooms should be quiet, ask for one with a view of the Duomo!!!

We stayed two nights at Firenze No.Nine in a Junior Suite. Our room was very large (probably around 800 square feet) and very comfortable. The location is exceptional (about two blocks from the Duomo) and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. The fitness center attached to the hotel looked very nice, but with only two days in Florence, we didn't have the time to make us of it.

A note about booking...I booked this hotel well in advance (probably about 6 months or so), and was able to get our room for about $450 per night (which included breakfast and wifi connection). That's more than we typically try to spend on a hotel, but we decided to splurge a bit this trip. I'm glad we did. I continued to monitor the rates on this hotel leading up to our trip, and in the month before the rates were generally showing about $1,000 a night. Obviously, your booking timeframe can make a huge difference.

A very nice hotel in the center of Florence. Helped us make reservations for museums, beautiful breakfast buffet, a spa - that we unfortunatly didn't have the time to try out - and free minibar. Super friendly service.

We generally prefer boutique hotels, and Firenze Number Nine, can't quite be classified this way. It's a first-class, luxurious hotel, with great service, but we didn't find it overly stuffy, as these hotels can sometimes be. Each evening they served an apertivo - you buy a drink (about euro 10) and you get to partake in the hors'doerves. Our room was exquisite - excellent bedding and a great bathroom. Breakfast was very substantial. Scrambled eggs, meats, breads, yogurt, cereals, deserts, etc., etc. You could also purchase an omelet or fried egg, which would be cooked at your table. We never saw anyone do this, however, as the breakfast buffet that is included with the room is very sufficient!

The location is perfect - right in the city-center, very close to the duomo and all of the city-center attractions.
