“What a wonderful stay!”

What a great way to settle into Florence. All of the major landmarks were within walking distance, yet we felt as if we were living like locals whenever we returned to our lovely accommodation in the Oltrarno area. The vaulted ceilings and interior decor added to the charm of this space and the pictures just don't do it justice. We were able to enjoy the beauty of Florence, explore surrounding areas and appreciate the abundance of culture Italy has to offer. For travel outside of Florence, we used the very convenient train system, also nearby. The owner, Francesco, welcomed us, was helpful and easy to reach when we had a question. If you are looking for a safe, clean and convenient location - this is it! It was perfect and we plan on returning. Thank you, Francesco!

“wonderfull place in Florence”

We have been received per Francesco's wife 3 days before Christmas. Because we were arriving early a breakfast was waiting for us.
The apartment is 10 minutes walking from the train station and from the center, 5 minutes from Palazzo Pitti. Perfect
The apartment was really very clean, washing machine, tv, internet, computer and printer, the heating was working perfectly. The shower is wonderful. Arcs are reminding you that you are in Florence. The kitchen is not very big, but really enough to make diner for 4 persons like we were and there is nothing missing.
We have really enjoy our stay and if once we have to come back to Florence, definitely we will stay in Francesco's apartment. Thank for making a part of our family's Italian holiday so special.

“Live like a local”
Reviewed 31 July 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We had a wonderful stay in Florence at the Merville apartment. It was initially difficult to find, but it could be because we were exhausted from our journey (flight from NYC, train to Florence and then walking from the train station)!! Francesco was very hospitable and the check-in process was easy. He gave clear instructions and walked us through the apartment. On the first day we had some questions and we emailed/texted him and he promptly responded. The apartment was perfect for us - my husband, myself and our 2.5 yr old child. He provided us with a high chair and baby cot too.
We did not use the kitchen as much except for making coffee and warming milk but it was equipped with all the necessary utensils for basic cooking. We used the washer and it worked fine too.

For kids - the apartment is right across a park with a children's play area.

It is located not far from the restaurants in Santo Spirito.

I must mention that in the mornings we heard someone play classical music in the apartment below (probably). This was a positive for us since it was very pleasant :)

We had found and booked the apartment on homeaway.com.

This is a great apartment with everything you'd need for a week's holiday. It is in a fantastic part of Florence near many great bars, restaurants and sights. We'd highly recommend it!

“Comfortable stay in a perfect location”

Our train was running late, but Francesco was unfased and welcoming. He explained the apartment's facilities and the charms of the local area. The apartment was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We loved the character of the rooms with their vaulted ceilings, and French windows overlooking neighbour's gardens. Lovely and quiet. Lots of choices of local inexpensive restaurants, and there was a convenience store close by. We felt like we were living in a village with the added advantage of being within walking distance of Florence's busy attractions. (We did choose, however to use a Taxi to and from the train station due to our luggage) Thank you Francesco for a very comfortable stay!

“A nice cosy apartment”
Reviewed 28 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We travelled with our 2 children in June. The apartment is on the quieter side of the river in a residential area but with amenities like restaurants, a gelataria and Carrefour all in a short walking distance. The Ponte Vecchio is a 20 mins walk. We didn't meet the owner when checking in because he sent his friend ( whose English was limited) but were provided all instructions prior to our arrival through e-mail..There were a set of instructions inside the apartment also which was very useful. We also had his telephone number so could keep in touch via whatsapp. The wifi inside the apartment was very good.

The apartment is in an old building ( a monastery we were told) which doesn't have a lift so be prepared to carry your luggage up the one flight of steps. The furnishing of the apartment is pretty basic and can be improved. The bedroom has a simple bed and the adjoining room has a sofa bed which was used by our kids. They however complained of insect bites so don't know if these were mosquitoes or bed bugs. The kitchenette is very well equipped for some basic cooking and the bathroom is very modern and nice. We would recommend to the owner to put in white bed sheets and towels to give it a more professional look. Also the apartment is decorated to give a homely feel but it's probably better to keep it neat and simple.

Management Response
5 Jul 2015
Thank you for your review. I would like to take this opportunity to clarify a few things. One of the most appreciated things of the apartment has been the cleanliness, as reflected in previous reviews. So we can reassure you that there are no bed bugs present. As you mentioned, we were always available and could have been easily contacted, yet this complaint was never brought to our attention, which we would have immediately taken action towards. Especially when it comes to the comfort of our guests and in particular the well being of children present. Of course, it is possible to see mosquitoes in Florence during the summer season. As a last clarification, Ponte Vechio is really about 1 kilometer from the apartment, but surely one can admire the beautiful surroundings along the way. All the best, Francesco
