“Great location and great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

Excellent location, located less than a block from the Medici Chapel/San Lorenzo Basilica and the daily market. Also about a block from the indoor Mercato Centrale and an easy walk to the Duomo di Firenze/Basilica and about 10minute walk to the Piazza della signoria . . . basically an excellent location for your adventure in Florence.
Room were good sized (by European standard), clean and well maintained. Be warned, for those with mobility impairments, no elevator for this multi level facility. The interior is also rather maze like, and some may have difficulty traversing the many stairs. Otherwise, good hotel, continental breakfast is good.
Check in was a quick and efficient.
Would definitely stay at this hotel again on future visits and recommend to friends and family.

Average hotel that's clean and safe. No elevator so be prepared to get a workout when carrying your bags 2-3 flights of stairs! Air conditioning wasn't the greatest either. The location is worth overlooking its "ok-ness." Its very centrally located, just a few blocks from all the main attractions and surrounded by shops and restaurants.

The hotel is almost at the heart of the city. It is very close to touristic parts of the city and to the train station. It has great price specially considering the location of the hotel. Overall it is a clean and nice place to stay. Not having any elevator is a disadvantage. We stayed 4 nights and it was OK. The breakfast was fine. The imitated famous pictures on the walls remind you that you are in Italy. People at the hotel were helpful and nice.

Room Tip: The street can be noisy so higher floors can be a better option.

The host is very accommodating, which we needed since we were travelling with a toddler. We were given the room number 2 right next to the reception desk. Had its own private door entrance which you could close for more privacy. There are stairs leading up to the hotel with no elevator but few stairs. Absolutely amazing location. You are close to the train station, Medici Museum, the amazing Food Market and the street Market. Not to mention the amazing Gelato (MUST HAVE) shop right in front of the hotel. Got a bit noisy (our room only review) one night because of the some boys and girls hollering and shouting coming from a drinking session. Someone quickly took care of that (Thankyou) without having to be told. I loved Florence mainly because of the ease of this hotel honestly. Thank you for an amazing stay staff.

Room Tip: If you can avoid getting the rooms facing the street.

We stayed at the Hotel Accademia as part of a Rick Steves group tour. The rooms are located on multiple floors with no elevator service. We had a small room on the 3rd floor. The room was simple, but clean with two twin beds and two nightstands with a small amount of floor space for bags. The bathroom had a small separate shower approximately 3 X 3 feet. Our window appeared to face a small outdoor courtyard, so the room was very quiet and dark, which made for great sleeping conditions. The hotel has fast, free wi-fi throughout the hotel. The breakfast buffet was good and the staff was helpful and friendly. There is also a small bar area on the first floor where people can socialize. The best part about this hotel is the location, which is short walking distance to all of the major sites in Florence.

Great location in Florence, walking distance from the train station and all attractions. The rooms were clean and big enough. The breakfast provided quite a decent spread. The service was excellent. I arrived at 11pm and immediately, the reception knew who I was...apparently he was expecting me as my family had told him I was arriving. The staff are friendly and flexible. We tend to go for breakfast a little late and they kept the buffet open for us an extra half hour without us asking (please try not to do that though...haha!)

The con is that you have to lug your bags up a flight of stairs to get to the hotel. One other thing, the wifi doesn't work in a few rooms. Overall, great value and highly recommended.

The Accademia was a 'port in a storm' for us, as we had to find accommodation in Florence in a hurry. (We were escaping a national rail strike.) It worked out well: reasonable price, brilliant location, comfortable room. The location is minutes away from most of the big attractions, including the Duomo, the Medici Chapel (less than 100 metres away) and Santa Maria Novella. It is also a short walk from the railway station. Our room was large, comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was also spacious, but we had to be careful high-stepping over the bath to have a shower. Breakfast was nothing special and the coffee was worse. We ate dinner nearby at an excellent restaurant recommended by the reception staff, who were friendly and helpful. Overall, we were pleased with the hotel and would stay there again.
