The reviews that say the beds are a little hard and the furnishings are a little dated are true. But we were still really, really glad we stayed here. We were in Room 6, which they had turned into a quad room with two twins and a queen---ideal for our family of four and much cheaper than the alternatives we explored. That room has an ensuite bathroom that is just fine. The ceilings in the room were high, which makes it especially roomy feeling. Free wifi, which was nice. The location was exceptionally convenient for our arrival by train and nice and close to the Duomo, lots of shopping and restaurants. The museums and bridge were 10-15 minutes of walking, tops. Very safe, very charming, and Thea could not be nicer. She prearranged museum reservations for us so we avoided long lines and went straight in. The stairs may be troublesome for people with loads of luggage, but we didn't mind them. Breakfast was plentiful and although not gourmet, higher quality than we expected from the reviews. We have visited Florence before but this was substantially better value and location than we've enjoyed in the past.

I stayed here as part of a Rick Steves' tour. The location is wonderful as others have indicated. There are very good restaurants just blocks away, plus more shopping than you can imagine at the San Lorenzo market. I had been prepared for single rooms in Italy to be very small, but my room here was very graciously sized. The bathroom was a nice compact layout but not tiny. I did not try the AC as it was pretty chilly and rainy during my stay here. The wifi worked in my room. I thought the breakfast offerings were good. The espresso machine mentioned by another reviewer is at their bar and I did enjoy an aperitif one evening while waiting for the rest of my family to gather and leave for dinner. The room and the public areas were very clean. I did have to laugh as you do go up and down small sets and larger sets of stairs to get to the various rooms, but that was part of the fun. The hotel did kindly arrange for a shuttle for 5 of us to get to the airport at a very early hour. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located close to the train station, half a block from the Medici Chapel, and many other tourist attractions. There are great restaurants, trattorias, and cafes within an easy walking distance...as well as an indoor market filled with meats and produce and outdoor vendors selling leather goods. There is a laundry mat a couple blocks away. There is also a grocery store, Conads, around the corner that is surprisingly large and has reasonable prices. Even the Ponte Vecchio is only a 10-15 minute walk away. Like many other hotels at which we stayed, the bed was hard so sleep doesn't come easily if you need comfort. The hotel itself from the outside belies it's size. Once you climb the stairs to the lobby (there is no elevator) you enter a maze of hallways that take you up and down marble staircases. It's very quirky but in a fun sort of way. The staff is helpful and will graciously correct you when you massacre the Italian language. The deepest disappointment is the coffee. While one must pass a beautiful espresso maker to get to the rooms thus leaving one to anticipate the best Italy has to offer, sadly at breakfast patrons are left drinking coffee from a large pot...coffee which tastes as if it has been cooked twice. Our group came to breakfast one morning to find the coffee was cold and then told it takes a while to heat up. The good news is that there is hot water available for tea so a decent hot beverage can be had. The breakfast itself was minimal...pretty much what seems to be the case as in other hotels at which we stayed...sliced meats and sliced cheese along with a few pastries. They do heat the croissants so that is nice. All in all, you have to ask what are your priorities...location? breakfast? comfortable sleeping? That is up to the traveler to answer.

Excellent location, located less than a block from the Medici Chapel/San Lorenzo Basilica and the daily market. Also about a block from the indoor Mercato Centrale and an easy walk to the Duomo di Firenze/Basilica and about 10minute walk to the Piazza della signoria . . . basically an excellent location for your adventure in Florence.
Room were good sized (by European standard), clean and well maintained. Be warned, for those with mobility impairments, no elevator for this multi level facility. The interior is also rather maze like, and some may have difficulty traversing the many stairs. Otherwise, good hotel, continental breakfast is good.
Check in was a quick and efficient.
Would definitely stay at this hotel again on future visits and recommend to friends and family.

Average hotel that's clean and safe. No elevator so be prepared to get a workout when carrying your bags 2-3 flights of stairs! Air conditioning wasn't the greatest either. The location is worth overlooking its "ok-ness." Its very centrally located, just a few blocks from all the main attractions and surrounded by shops and restaurants.

The hotel is almost at the heart of the city. It is very close to touristic parts of the city and to the train station. It has great price specially considering the location of the hotel. Overall it is a clean and nice place to stay. Not having any elevator is a disadvantage. We stayed 4 nights and it was OK. The breakfast was fine. The imitated famous pictures on the walls remind you that you are in Italy. People at the hotel were helpful and nice.

Room Tip: The street can be noisy so higher floors can be a better option.

The host is very accommodating, which we needed since we were travelling with a toddler. We were given the room number 2 right next to the reception desk. Had its own private door entrance which you could close for more privacy. There are stairs leading up to the hotel with no elevator but few stairs. Absolutely amazing location. You are close to the train station, Medici Museum, the amazing Food Market and the street Market. Not to mention the amazing Gelato (MUST HAVE) shop right in front of the hotel. Got a bit noisy (our room only review) one night because of the some boys and girls hollering and shouting coming from a drinking session. Someone quickly took care of that (Thankyou) without having to be told. I loved Florence mainly because of the ease of this hotel honestly. Thank you for an amazing stay staff.

Room Tip: If you can avoid getting the rooms facing the street.
