I like many others ventured into AJ's leather factory and was greeted by a very nice man who offered to show me some jackets and try on many to find the right size.
Well, I found a jacket which was very nice and also at a great price, I bought it - not knowing which would soon follow.
The jacket was only spray dyed and not waterproofed. When it rained, the dye ran off the jacket completely and became ruined within hours of just light rain. (pictures of before and after attached)
I also did the VAT return at heathrow to try and get some tax back on my purchase.
So after arriving home very disappointed with my purcahse I tried to contact via email and phone AJ's leather factory to no avail.
Weeks later I decided to check the ballance of my cash passport card only to discover it had dropped from +20 euro to -42 euros.. The culprit? "Tax free Milano" The shop had managed to somehow charge my card an additional 60 euros when I was meant to recieve that advance back.
Do NOT shop here.

I had very high expectations as this place was recommended by a friend. The salesman (not sure if he is one of the owners or not), Sam, was very friendly and quite the salesman. He guaranteed the quality of the distressed buffalo handbag I was interested in, making a point of telling me this partcular leather would wear very well, and told me that I would be getting a nice VAT tax return thus reducing the great deal he was giving me.
Well, I have yet to receive my VAT tax return 5 months later. I sent 2 e-mails to the company requesting information that would allow me to track down the return. Not knowing the VAT tax company AJ uses makes it impossible for me to do anything. I cannot tell you how put out I am that they refuse to even take the time to tell me their VAT company let alone give me my DOC # in order to receive the money owed to me.
If that was not bad enough, I have not been happy with the quality of the bag which I paid several hundred dollars for. After only 5 months of carrying it every so often, being very careful not to set it on the floor anywhere, the leather looks worn in spots and some of the raised areas of the distressed finish have torn off! The first time it happened was after having carried the bag less than a week! I even had feet put on it in order to try and avoid the wear I was beginning to notice.
I am unhappy to say this lovely showroom with a lot of beautiful leather is not a good deal at all. There are way too many leather shops in Florence to risk going to AJ.

My experience in this store was similar to all the leather shops in florence this may, 2013. Outrageously high prices that start coming down when you walk away. So i got a nice leather jacket 55% off including the VAT refund which in order to get the clerk had to scan my card both for the store purchase, and for TAX FREE MILANO, supposedly to verify it was a US card.
Then i saw that the clerk in his enthusiasm had not quite exactly explained the TAX FREE process. Fair enough, i would have to get the paperwork stamped at customs leaving europe and mail it in. What i didn't expect was to see a cash advance the next week on my card from NTFM (cash free milano ?).
Fortunately my credit card co. saw this and cancelled my card, while i am still traveling. Then TAX FREE MILANO is somehow able to add more charges, instead of refunding any VAT. So my main complaint about this store is the misleading way the VAT refund is handled, plus exposing my card to fraudulent charges.
first time in many years of travels in europe this has happened to me!
