Reviewed 27 September 2009

We stayed two nights in a double room from the 17th to the 19th of September 2009. We payed 76€, nothing in advance (I think).

Location:
The hotel is located just out of the historic city of Florence. It is 1.5 km from the Duomo (la cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore), which is a 20 minutes walk. It is 2.3 km away from the Santa Maria Novella train station, about a 30 minutes walk, or a 15€ cab ride (In the daytime for two). There is a bus stop close to the hotel, with lines going past the Duomo and the Santa Maria Novella train station (at least bus lines 11 and 17 and I think also 20). The Via Masaccio is quite heavy trafficated, so if you are troubled by noise you should ask for a room away from the street.

Room:
The hotel is rather small, with only nine rooms. The rooms have an all right standard for a budget hotel, and are equipped with shower and a sink, but with shared toilets. There are two toilets to share. The shower wasn't new or spacious but worked fine. During our stay there was trouble with clogging on one of the toilets, which wasn't exactly appetizing. But I hope this was a temporary problem, and at least there was a second toilet next to the reception. The double bed was made up of two singles, and the spring mattrasses were quite uncomfortable, but it works if you're not picky.

Restaurant/breakfast:
There was a small restaurant service in the hotel, with simple and cheap food. There was a very small breakfast for 5€ a person, but it wasn't much to write home about. A croissant with coffee, and rolls or dry crackers with yam or butter cheese. There was a supermarket 300 m to the right on Via Masaccio where you could get a better breakfast for a quarter of the price, and eat it in the park next to the bus stop for example.

Internet:
There was free wireless internet in the hotel (free-hotspot.com), and you gat a card with a login code from the reception to get access.

Service:
The manager greeted us, and he was very friendly and spoke well English. Others have reported various English speaking abilities with other reception staff, but for us it was not a problem. The reception is only staffed until 20.00, and you get keys to the main doors to get in after that. Check-out is before 10.00.

Conclusion:
This is a budget hotel, but you get good value for your money. It is a small walk or bus trip to the hotel from the sights and attraction, but if you plan your trip and don't mind walking a bit, then it's no problem. The standard is OK and the facilities are acceptably clean and in order (except for the toilet during our stay, which was clogged and undelicate to say the least). We could definately stay here again.

Hotel- The hotel is about a 15- minute bus ride from the train station. Situated in a quiet neighborhood, it's a bit further than we had hope from all the 'center' excitement of the Duomo, museums, Ponte Vecchio, etc.

Staff- Pleasant and accommodating. Willingness to help.

Room- Comfortable and clean. Definitely close your windows at night-- mosquitoes are all over Florence.

Location- Everything is a bus ride away; not really walkable although we did end up walking back one late night when we could not catch the bus.

Attraction- Shopping is a must in Florence whether you've got the cash flow or not, there's something for everyone. Near the Duomo, there is an outdoor market where you can get your souvenir fix ins. Here, you can bargain.

Tips- Bring bug repellent. Also, it could just be us, but we had really bad allergies here so if you have seasonal allergies, we suggest to bring your meds.

Very cheap, comfortable and clean accomodation, within 25 minutes walk of all the main attractions but out of the tourist loop. 5 mins walk from the No. 7 bus stop to Fiesole. Very friendly and helpful staff plus breakfast (5 euros - not included in room price) on the balcony overlooking lush green gardens. Shared toilets, didn't bother us but some might not like....

The hotel was fairly close to the main train station in Florence (about a 9 euro cab ride), but a good 25-30 minute walk to the city's attractions.

The hotel itself was very average. The room was large and we had a bathroom, but the bathroom was the shower so after I took a shower, the entire bathroom was wet. Also, we had a couple mosquitos in the room that chewed up my neck and the room was close to the hotel balcony and smoke would seep into our room when people would step outside to smoke. Also, the hotel did not have an elevator.

Pros:
Close to train station, large room, large bed, friendly host.

Cons:
Not within walking distance to sites, bathroom, mosquitos, no elevator, and room near balcony which led to smoke in room.
