I booked this with lastminute.com. It was one of those deals where you did not find out where you were staying until you clicked to book. When I googled the place I was horrified to read the reviews of it. It had very good reviews up until a few years ago but the most recent ones have been pretty horrific. I was actually dreading this holiday. It was not, in reality, as bad as I expected. The reception staff have been criticised in many of the reviews but we found them to be polite and helpful at all times. We were put in the 'Savonarola Suite' which is at the back of the property at street level and was I assume a converted garage. It was clean and warm when we arrived. A couple of the light bulbs were not working and some of the curtains needed a little re-hanging but that is all. 'Savonarola' is only suitable for two and there was just enough cutlery and crockery for two. There was no chopping board which we found a little irritating but made do. We had no problem with the internet connection. Some reviews had mentioned noise. Our first night was a Saturday night and there was some disturbance in the early hours with revellers returning home but I think you can expect that in every city at the weekend. The next three nights were very quiet and we had no difficulty sleeping. The bed was comfy and the sheets clean. There is a supermarket not very far away 'Conad City' which was open till 9pm every night...even Sunday. The apartment is about a 20/ 25 minute walk from the station outside which the airport bus stops. It is very handy for many of the major sights. Florence is a beautiful city and in the end we had a wonderful time and it did not turn out to be the holiday I was dreading.
