“Such a thrill to walk around and on top of the cupola”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

I would highly recommend the combination ticket to enter the cathedral cupola, baptistery, belfry, cathedral crypt and museum. The cupola is simply amazing. When I read in a guide book that you could go up into the cupola, I couldn't believe it and it is well worth the stairs. Firstly, you go up in to the dome of the inside of the cathedral and get so close to the amazing paintings inside the cupola itself. You can also look down in to the cathedral, which is amazing. The next climb takes you up into the cupola in the space between the wall and the roof tiles in the curve of the cupola, which is good fun, and you end up on top of the cupola on a viewing platform. Stunning views over the city, and of the cathedral itself. On the way down, you enter the inside of the cupola again for more amazing views of the paintings in the cupola before the descent. Well worth it and incredible value for money in the combination ticket (available on-line in advance).

“Great views, dreadfully long queues”
Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

Great views after the 463 steps are conquered. Even better that we made it on a scorching day to the top. Queues were excessive to visit firenza card gave quicker access once you find out you have to get a ticket from ticket office which is located within door 7 of the square. Only downside extremely busy and people in normal queue not happy about priority access with the above card.

“Something unique”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Although you have several hundred steps to climb, it is one of the attractions you can't miss in Florence. From upper top in addition, you have amazing view of the city. Simply great!

“not to be missed”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Get there early!! The climb is not bad as there are breaks between levels. It is narrow and often you must make room for others who are coming down - not what I would want later in the day. The view is spectacular! This unbelievable architecture can be even better appreciated by viewing a NOVA special: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/ancient/great-cathedral-mystery.html#

“Well worth the climb.”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

This is not just a climb for a view, but a climb through history. There are some spectacular views and once you go through the turnstile you can climb fast or slowly, and there are places to let others go past. The view from the top is striking.

Hint: Buy your ticket the afternoon before and be in line by 0830 when the doors open. The guards let only a few dozen people in every 20 mins or so, so if you queue up later, be ready for a long wait.
