“Highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

It just shows how subjective trip advisor is. I loved just about everything in this place and this was by far the best breakfast we had in Italy, we were so sick of pastries that it was so refreshing to have good muesli, lovely seeded and wholemeal toast, fresh fruit and delicious butter and jams. Coffee also excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone, the position so central, rooms tasteful and clean. Living areas relaxing and being able to make coffee, tea and use kitchen facilities was such a bonus. Krista was so helpful and lovely. So reviewer who complained about breakfast well I am amazed.

Family of 4 adults stayed at the Bargello for 6 nights over New Years. Excellent location and the room was great looking out at three bell towers. Wonderful people, loved the common kitchen, living room and rooftop patio. Rick Steves was right on mark with his recommendation.

Dead tired from walking and climbing stairs all day, we would enjoy the kitchen and rooftop patio with a good bottle of wine, great cheese and sausage.

Gabriella was wonderfully helpful with anything we needed. The Bargello made our trip to Florence very memorable.

Room Tip: We had two rooms: one double and one with two singles. Both were large and very comfortable. Loved...

This was the first time for my hysband and myself in Florence, and I must say that Il Bargello was one of the highlights of the trip :) you get an instant feel of a family-like place, very cosy, we stayed at a relatively spacious room (Michael Angelo). Very clean rooms and bathrooms. The place has around 6 rooms, you get a nice cosy kitchen, and it has a nice small terrace with a fantastic view of Florence rooftops (and a tiny bit of the Duomo), it's a nice place to unwind. Gabrielle (the owner) was very welcoming, and makes great cappuccino in the morning :) So if you don't mind going up 3 floors on the stairs, this bed and breakfast is a great place if you opt for something small, cosy, and central (everything is a walking distance, and right behind the Duomo). Big thanks to Gabrielle :)

Room Tip: "Michael Angelo" room was more spacious than others. Also there is another room with a pri...

My wife and I spent three nights the end of October 2013 at “Il Bargello” in Florence.
The B&B itself is very nice and well maintained in a beautiful old building, centrally located near all of Florences most beautiful sites and museums and only a 10-15 min easy walk to the train station. Gabriella and her assistant Krista were very nice and helpful with making any arrangements as far as museum reservations or any other activity you could want to do in Florance.
The room, (Caravaggio) I felt, was on the small side with a comfortable Queen size bed with plenty of pillows, a wardrobe to hang your clothes but little room for your luggage. The bathroom was also on the small size with an Italian size shower but had plenty of hot water.
Even though the B&B is on the top floor (Four flights of stairs about 77 steps to the b&b) you can still expect the normal street noise at night that you will get in all cities of this size. The roof top terrace was great with fabulous views, especially at night. Also very good wi-fi from the room and they have a computer you can use from the very comfortable common sitting room.
I can say we were a little disappointed with the breakfast. It was your choice of yogurt, toast coffee, tea, but packaged doughnuts, not the typical Italian pastries like served at other B&B's where we stayed. This was our third trip to Italy and our last stop of a thirty day tour this time around, so we have stayed at quite a few Italian B&Bs and. although by any means this is not a deal breaker I guess it was not what we have come to expect and we felt they could use some improvement here.
Overall the central location and views from the terrace make “Il Bargello” a good stop in Florence.

This B&B at the top of the stairs was a wonderful base for exploring the heart of Florence, just steps to all the great sights. The rooftop terrace was a great place to unwind at the end of the day. And fresh cappuccinos for breakfast were much appreciated. The staff was a great help finding a place for us to park our car outside the restricted zone that included taxi service to the B&B. We would stay here anytime we have a chance to visit Florence again.

Room Tip: The first three rooms are away from the common spaces.

We stayed here for two nights. The room and bathroom were nice. Plenty of room in the shower, plus good hot water. Loved the sitting room, plus the terrace. The terrace had nice views of the city. The location was great - only a couple of blocks from the Duomo. We enjoyed the cappaccino, yogurt, toast, fruit, and cereal that we had for breakfast.

Room Tip: We had a nice room, but not sure of the room number.

My wife and I spent two nights at Il Bargello B&B on our honeymoon (the room with the private terrace). Overall we were extremely satisfied. The B&B was very clean and spacious. The shared rooftop terrace offers great views of some of the higher points in Florence.

The private terrace is perfect for two people trying to relax in the cool Florence air.

The B&B is located up a few flights of stairs, so make sure you're able to carry your suitcases.

Overall, an absolutely wonderful experience, and we will definitely stay here on our next trip to Florence.
