Located near the historic city center on Via Giambologna (named after the great renaissance sculptor) this flat was a perfect fit for our family of 4 adults. The flat, quiet and bright, is a designer's paradise. Impeccable taste throughout with an amazing attention to detail. Honestly, I have never seen a home or apartment with a better lighting scheme (functional & mood lighting).
The living room is large as is the master bedroom. The closet space in all three bedrooms is terrific. The kitchen, which we used a lot during our week long stay has "top of the line" everything -- including a well stocked wine cabinet (wines are available at a nominal cost). The dining room features a lovely and large marble dining table where we enjoyed some memorable meals. There are 2 markets nearby.
A sun room, just off the dining room, is great for visiting or reading. And has a closeted hatch with a large washing machine & dryer. Accessed from the kitchen is a cozy sun deck.
We didn't have a car. While the historic city center is walk-able by foot, it is a long walk. We opted for taxis instead, approximately a 10 minute ride and roughly 15 euros depending on traffic.
OF NOTE: As others have touched on, this flat is located on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. We had 5 suitcases. Needless to say, it can be a challenge. But it was our only challenge at Via Giambologna 10.
TIP: It is highly advisable to book this flat well in advance from mid-May to mid-June.
This flat exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend for a memorable Florence accommodation.
We stayed here with friends and our daughter for three nights in July. The place is amazing. Very clean, well set up, comfortable furniture and beds and very nice bathrooms and kitchen.
The loft is about a 20 minute walk from downtown and about 2 minutes from the bus route.
There are several close by grocery stores and a restaurants.
There are 6 air conditioners, but only three can be run at a time. We didn`t find this to be a problem. We especially liked the enclosed terrace in the evenings and the open deck off the kitchen at night.
A couple of nights we went and got groceries and cooked in the kitchen. There is a huge fridge with freezer and stocked wine fridge (8-16 Euros per bottle). There are plenty of plates and cutlery for serving 5 and a dishwasher as well.
The laundry is out off of the enclosed terrace and we took the opportunity to wash clothes while we were there.
The loft is up 4-5 flights of stairs, so it was a bit of effort, especially after a long day of walking around Florence. While we were there, it was 35+ each day, and it was so nice to come ``home`` to a cool loft, shower and relax in comfort with a nice glass of wine.
We all think this place was one of the top two in the 6 places we stayed on our trip.
This flat was beautiful and quite spacious. It worked perfectly for my family -- my husband and me, plus two teenagers. The bathrooms were great and we loved the showers. It was very hot in Florence while we were there and the AC worked very well. It also had a working washer and dryer which was really helpful since we were on an extended trip.
I agree with other reviews -- I didn't realize how far it was from all of the sights in Florence. My family doesn't mind walking, but it was a good 25-30 minute walk to everything, which was hard in 90+ heat.
We downloaded the taxi app -- which sometimes worked perfectly, but sometimes would not have any taxis available. It did cost 10-14 euros to ride to the sites.
Once again -- it was a really nice place.
We thought this was a fantastic apartment. Very spacious, equipped with everything we needed and spotlessly clean. It is about 20 minutes walk away from central Florence (perhaps 30 from the Ponte Vecchio) but most of the walk is down quiet streets and is no problem if you're reasonably fit and happy to stroll. The owner met us at the apartment and was helpful to the point of booking our taxi back to the airport, which we really appreciated.
I would have preferred white sheets and covers as it makes it feel a bit cleaner but i would definitely recommend this to friends.
This apartment is located in a quiet area of Florence. It is exactly as presented in the photographs, large, well appointed, easily roomy enough for 6 adults/families, beds comfortable, outdoor terrace. Stated as on the 3rd floor, don't forget Europe starts at level -0-, so there are 4 flights of stairs. (A consideration with small children, strollers, or those with mobility issues.) The booking process was easy, Daniella met us as scheduled upon arrival and check out, with recommendations for dining, location of the supermarket, etc. Lights in the stairwell are timed, and we were caught in the dark once...thank goodness my husband had a mini flashlight! (Our friend was slower on the steps with a knee issue!)
My only complaint, which has nothing to do with the apartment or service/booking, is the LOCATION. Others have stated a "20 minute walk to downtown". Unless my map, or GPS was wrong (as I utilized both, referring back to property reviews of 20 minute walk), it is a solid 40 minutes, and we are brisk walkers, very use to 10-12 miles a day on vacation. I personally love the markets of Europe, and enjoy staying at apartments near them, as I utilize them for our meals. Shopping at what I consider a "grocery store" wasn't what I planned, and was the best way to do things IMHO from this location. Vacation time is precious, and many things we had planned and booked, required a taxi, because of scheduled times. Again, this was MY error, and does NOT in any way reflect on the property itself. This is just something to consider when booking.
As a side note, download the TAXI.IT app. The taxi arrived within 3 minutes. As the property manager suggested, a taxi from the train station is your best option on arrival. 4 people $10 to downtown Florence.
Again, I cannot say enough about the property itself and the management team/owners. Everything went as planned, and I adored the apartment!
