Stayed in the historical suite and it was like sleeping in a museum. HUGE room. This is not a high class hotel but for the price it was amazing and the location was excellent, walking distance to just about everything.

Room Tip: Choose the historical junior suite.

We were thoroughly pleased with this hotel from day one. They went out of their way to be helpful in whatever concerns we had. The location is second to none, minutes from everywhere you want to be in Florence. The breakfast buffet is tasty and generous. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This hotel is right on the Arno, near some very nice shops. It is perfectly situated to start your tour of Florence. I've seen some excellent reviews of this hotel as well as some that are very bad, and after visiting I understand this perfectly. We booked the junior historical suite as we had a teenage son with us and this room accomodated three people. We arrived at night in the pouring rain, were taken to our huge room and kept trying to find a way to turn on more lights. This room was beautiful, approximately 30 ft. x 40 ft., and had a beautiful painiting on the ceiling which was at least 20 ft. high. There were beautiful doors leading to a very small bath (when you sat on the toilet you had to be careful that your knees didn't hit the bidet). The room was extremely elegant with two large windows looking onto an inner open area of buildings. The furniture was very poor. Our headboard
was tufted vinyl, two cheap vinyl contemporary chairs, our bedspread looked like it was from a garage sale,. We did have one nice, antique large desk. This room is pictured on their website with a different canopied bed. I don't know why it isn't furnished like that any longer. All of that was really okay with us as the room itself was so beautiful if it hadn't been so dark. They had only the smallest of lamps on the tiny nightstands, a very small lamp on the table between the chairs, a pole lamp at the end of the extra bed. They also have a huge, very dark fireplace in there that only served to make it darker. I went to the desk and they said that was the way it was..."historic." Now that I'm home I've read several reviews complaining about inadequate lighting. It is a problem that could be so easily solved but they haven't yet addressed it (taller lamps?).They were very accomodating and moved us the next morning to a suite overlooking the Arno in a new and lovely part of the building. This room was smaller but quite nice and had a much larger bath with jacuzzi. The halls were newly refurbished and very nice, a large improvement from the downstairs hall which was rather bleak. The breakfast was good, but not as much variety as at some other hotels. They had a Cuisinart toaster that was broken and you had to hold down the lever the entire time you were toasting your bread. I asked the attendant and she said that it was working correctly. I have TWO of the same toasters in my own home and of course you don't have to hold the lever down. It was simply broken. It will be that way forever as they think it's fine. Breakfast doesn't open until 8 AM and this is a problem for those wishing to get an early start. They have a lounge area to use your computer and you are able to put your bags there if you need to leave them while you are in Florence but no longer checked into your room. It wasn't secured in any way but we didn't have any problem. I think this hotel can be a great value and has some excellent rooms. You just need to be specific with your requests. The staff is very helpful.

This was a great place for our one-night stay in Florence. It was a historic building right on the riverbank, within walking distance to the historic sites. We were upgraded to a larger room with antique furniture, frescoes on the ceiling, and an updated bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had a historical Jr. suite and a small double. The suite was roomey and comfortable, not luxurious, but plenty of space for me and two teens and nice. My brother had the double which was newly painted, pretty and fresh and not very small at all. The bathrooms were nice but could use a little bleach and scrubbing in the corners, not gross just not perfect either.
The location was terrific, so was the front desk person, Julia.
We would definately stay again.
