“Central hotel with character”
Reviewed 17 September 2012

Fantastic location in central Florence. Five minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio. Period rooms were full of character and very spacious. Bathrooms weren't huge, but were stylish. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly in terms of car parking. Breakfasts pretty good too.

Our stay at the Bretagna with our two small children was great. The staff are very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are very spacious clean and have a old world charm that fits in with the city. The bathrooms are quite new and also very clean. The breakfast is well stocked and is great before a day of walking the beautiful streets. The location of the hotel couldnt be better. Its very close to all the main sights and also close to the Oltrano which has heaps of great restaurants out of the main tourist spots. Its also very quite so we always got plenty of rest. The biggest plus to this hotel is its staff they are very helpful with planning your day and recommending places to eat etc. I travel for my job and am in hotels 3/4 of the year and can tell you that service this good is not everywhere. I would recommend Hotel Bretagna as excellent value, position and service and would stay there again next time in Florence.

From day one it was first class service. Reception staff excelled, we were always greeted with a smile and they reassured us that they had our dietary requirements catered for. They recommended an alternative trip which greatly enhanced our experience. Their English was wonderful which left no room for errors and their sense of humour was a breath of fresh air. They even enjoyed helping us with our Italian. The price was comfortable for our budget and the location is perfect. Easy to find from the Railway Station, and a short walk to Ponte Vechio and other major museums, bridges, cathedrals, shops etc. Our family room was very comfortable and clean throughout our holiday.

Breakfast catered for all tastes and our dietary request for gluten free was provided every morning without prompting from us. We felt cared for. Security was better than an average hotel and our room had a free safe. Free wifi and computer access was an added bonus.

We spent 12 very happy days at Hotel Bretagna would happily reccomend this to our friends.

Room Tip: Room 30 was a double room with extra single bed off the main room. Large walk in shower. Great for a...

Lovely, Elegant rooms.and certainly the best thing about the hotel is the location - couldn't be better, even though we didn't have a river view. The breakfast was also very good with a wide choice from the buffet and the staff very friendly and helpful. Only complaints are that the bathroom was a little cramped - the toilet seemed squashed in a corner. Also, we were told to leave the room at 14:00pm so it could be cleaned when we wanted a siesta during the hottest time of the day - I felt the room could have been cleaned earlier at a more convenient time. But on the whole I would certainly recommend this hotel as first rate.

The hotel is clean, comfortable, and perfectly located, with easy 10-15 minute walks to the Uffizi, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and Pitti Palace. Rooms are spacious if a little plain. Breakfast was good and the staff was wonderful. The front desk helped us with tickets to an opera recital, dinner reservations, and parking. We had two rooms; the plumbing in our bathroom was a little iffy, but our teenage kids had a large, recently-renovated bathroom that was quite nice.

The hotel with a perfect location and home feeling made our stay a joy in Florence. Close to shopping, main sights and a stunning view! The hotel was well managed, nice, helpful staff and clean. The rooms could have a bit more decoration as it felt a bit naked and breakfast buffe ciuld be richer with more fresg vegetables..

The rooms are clean and simple and the property has a great view of the river. There are friendly shadows in the front room to sit and take a break from the heat in the summer. Even though it is close the main touristique area it was quiet and a nice break from the crowd. The staff were really nice and very helpful with suggestions and directions.
