You stay in this hotel for the atmosphere of staying in a period style old world residences. The hotel is a converted mansion and consequently has loads of character!
The room itself (standard double with bathroom) was large and full of period furniture. However as this is an old residence, the hot water in the bathroom took some time to fire up. Be careful when you book as not all the rooms have a bathroom.
The location was fantasic - right in front of the river and only 2 blocks down from Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery. It is also a short walk from the Station and Duomo. Florence is a very compact city and all the sights are within walking distance from the hotel.
The staff where helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was avearge but standard fare for European standards.
Florence has many hotels and as the city is very compact, you can possibly find a hotel closer to all the sights within the same price frame, but if you are looking to stay somewhere with a bit more character that the usual modern hotel, then this is the place for you. If not and you don't like older style hotels, don't stay here.More
