This hotel was a palazzo and it shows. The public rooms are charming and befitting a palazzo. The best part of the rooms, besides the views on upper floors, is the wonderful modern marble baths. The service was excellent, the breakfast delicious....a complete buffet and cooked to order items as well. The location is wonderful, mere minutes from Santa Croce and the Bargello and only a less than ten minute walk from the river. The Duomo is ten minutes in the opposite direction. Basically, a very convenient location without the crowds. This hotel is a hidden gem.

Room Tip: Higher floors have views of Santa Croce. There is no fitness facility.

We were in Florence for 3 days in April, 2012, stayed at the Relais Santa Croce and loved our experience there. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. They made recommendations for dinner, tours and were very, very pleasant. Our room was terrific. We had a portal window with a view of the Cathedral Santa Croce. The room was well appointed and had plenty of storage and space. The bathroom is what you would expect of a hotel of this stature. The common areas are a real highlight. At one point we took a break, had a glass of wine and they even made that special by including delicious snacks without any prompting. We loved the location. it is a quiet street, but only 1.5 blocks from the Santa Croce and we found it was an easy walk to the central area and key sites. If I were to ask for one thing it is that the internet be included. Others have asked for this and given the cost of the room, it does stand out as a "nickel and dime" fee. But, this is the only issue we had. I can't wait to go back to Florence and the Relais Santa Croce!!

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in March 2012. From our arrival to our departure, the staff could not do enough to make us feel welcome and help in any way. The hotel is in an old palace that has been converted into a 3 Michelin starred restaurant (not part of the hotel) and the hotel with only 24 rooms. We had booked a deluxe room but paid for an upgrade to a junior suite. This room (301) was a bit small to be categorised as a junior suite but we had a steam shower and lovely views over the roof tops to Sante Croce. I understand if you have a room on the opposite side, you can see the dome of the Duomo. Our room was also very modern and we were expecting a more traditional, characteristic room with Italian antique furniture. No complaint as it was very comfortable, but was not in keeping with the hotel. Breakfast was included and it was adequate. Plenty of self service choice (juice, fruit, cereal, breads, cakes, cheese, fish and meats) but it didn't change during our stay so it was a bit monotonous. You could have cooked breakfast too as you were asked each morning if you wished to order eggs, and coffee/tea was made to order. The public rooms are beautiful, especially the music room. It has a restaurant, but we did not eat there.

Room Tip: There are three floors - reception is on 1st floor and I assume rooms are on 2nd & 3rd. Room 30...

My husband and i just returned from a wonderful week at this lovely property. We had a very quiet and charming room with a balcony overlooking Santa Croce. This is a small hotel that combines old world charm and updated amenities with style and grace. Outstanding staff and service from the moment you arrive sets this hotel apart from many that i have had the good fortune to stay in.

We booked last minute after a very disappointing stay in a hotel in Venice, Le Fenice in San Marco Square(do NOT go!).
We googled relais and chateau as we always do and low and behold! This hotel is utterly dream like. Fabulous location behind the Domo, central to everything but quiet which was great. I believe it was the palazzo of some Pope's treasurer or some such. It is incredibly impressive with souring ceilings, mixture of modern and period furniture and art throughout. Rooms are ultra modern which was a great change! Fabulous bathrooms and service top notch. Glad we didn't have dinner there as it is way too "precious" and also over $200. euros. Do go and stay and enjoy every moment. Takes you back in time...

We stayed here 1 night. Extremely comfortable beds! Great and spacious bedroom and bathroom (We stayed in room 303). The bathroom had a steam shower for 2. It's location is a few walking steps from the Neptune Fountain (If you see the map, on the map it appears more distant than what it truly is). Very friendly staff, the buffet breakfast was wonderful! Every imaginable fruit was on display, pastries galore, and very nice coffee.
