This hotel is fine for a base while you are in Florence - i.e. somewhere to sleep - but the lack of any facilities is a negative factor. It is very clean and in good order but somewhat lacking in charm and character. As other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast is good (by Italian standards!) and the breakfast staff very friendly and efficient. We had a very good room rate in November. The hotel is handy for those arriving by rail but it's a bit of a leg to get into the centre of the city if you're not an enthusiastic walker.

Room Tip: You can choose from the trams at the front or the trains at the rear. The windows are very good and...

This hotel has 4 stars which is one too many in my opinion as there are no facilities. There is a tiny bar and small lounge in the reception area plus an outdoor area which in November isn't used much. The breakfast area is small for the size of the hotel but thanks to the efficient staff tables are cleared quickly. We thought the location really good as it is near the station and coach stop for coaches from Pisa. It is also an easy and short walk to all the major attractions. There is noise from the trams which run late at night and start early in the morning.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 4th floor and airless .The walls are thin and we could here conversations from t...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and can agree with some of the previous reviews.

We paid for a junior suite as we wanted additional space and it appeared the room was designed for 3 occupants with a single sofa bed, otherwise the room we got was NOT of the refurbished quality as described by other reviewers. The 'suite' also was in a corner facing the front of the hotel, with a light rail line right out the front, its perfect if you don't intend to sleep in and want to be up at 5 am in the morning.

This was our first visit to Florence and we found the hotel was a little out of the way for discovering the city. Although located close to the station, it was in the opposite direction to the Centre of town and it added an additional 10 minutes to walking into town.

The breakfast buffet was good and the staff were friendly and extremely obliging. This was the highlight of our stay.

The front desk staff were perfunctory, the addition of a smile may have gone a long way to make us feel welcomed...and the internet...very slow.

Overall, it did the job for our stay and we still enjoyed the beautiful city as we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. It is well situated for the buses and rail station. The hotel was extremely clean, tasteful and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was great with a wide choice of cheeses, meat, eggs and pastries and beautifully prepared tables. We found the staff went out of their way to be helpful ...you can get a hot drink from the staff at reception and we were loaned a kettle as well! ( not sure that this is part of the normal deal!)
The rooms were cleaned each day and all the bedding and towels as well. Our room was a bit hot and stuffy at night but we asked the staff to put the air-con back on due to an unusually warm November.
We thought this was a fantastic hotel with an equally fantastic little restaurant just round the corner called ' IL Portale.' This was wonderful because after a tiring day exploring Florence we didn't want to walk far for an evening meal.

I stayed here two nights after staying next door at the Hotel Londra for five nights so I will do a bit of comparison of these two 4-star hotels that are next door to each other. First, this is a nice hotel. I was in the new wing on the ground floor (room 503). The room was small, but very modern. It had a large safe drawer in the room, big enough for two laptop computers. It didn't have a closet, but did have a small clothes rack to hang a few shirts. The hotel automation system is a bit too much. For example, the front desk has control over the air conditioning in your room. If you turn it off, you have to get the desk to turn it back on. They limit the temperature settings so you don't get to set the temperature to whatever you want. The bathroom is large and modern. The desk staff was fluent in English and extremely helpful. The included breakfast was adequate, but not as expansive as the Londra hotel, next door. The internet service was ok, but much slower than the Londra. I could get spotty service in my room. If I sat at the desk, it worked, but not if I was in the bed.

I would recommend this hotel for an overnight stay, but compare it to the Londra if your are staying for longer.

I stayed here one night on business. The hotel was very clean and modern (new wing). The room and all areas of the hotel were spotless. The room was a good size and had a very comfortable bed. The breakfast which was included was for Italian standards very good. There was fresh fruit, yogurts, eggs, meats and cheeses. Of course your usual sweet breads and cakes as typical in Italy.

The location was excellent and only a 5 minute walk from the train station. There is an express bus that travels between the train station and airport every 30 minutes.

Every member of staff was extremely friendly and pleasant. No question was too much and everything was always answered with a smile.

My only complaint with the hotel is their internet. Although free, it was totally useless. The connection speed was excruciatingly slow. After dinner I tried again, but only to log out soon after.

I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again, but would hope they improve the speed of their internet, as any type of work, browsing, or email proved to be impossible.

Good location very near train, bus and taxi, we parked hire car for 15 euro per day in secure car park. Hotels has original part and then new build at rear with covered open area with seating and tables, excellent place to start out from in morning or evening after planning meeting! We stayed in new part, room was clean and fresh, excellent bathroom (Shower could have done with termostatic control !). Bed massive and very comforatble. Breakfast excellent, lots of choice, fresh coffee on demand and pleasant and helpfull staff. Fridge faulty in our room but was no problem to supply ice bucket and ice for bottle of Champagne which we brought with us (which was no problem either), happy days and very much enjoyed.

Room Tip: Some rooms don't have windows, apparently.Ours opened out onto street but was no problem
