“Quirky but charming, fine if you can keep it real.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 September 2013

Bavaria is a very friendly and small hostel type place, IIt is all on one floor so I wouldn't classify it as a real hotel.
If you have seen the website just remember, like so many promotional tools, it is a website intended to promote!

The people on reception are lovely and helpful the slightly crazy french bulldog is very entertaining and you will feel safe. All great things.

For the most part it does the job. It is airy, bright and pleasant and the single room I stayed in no. 5, is spacious and has a sink.

Breakfast although adequate ( there are cereals and bread) is not a breakfast for those of us who enjoy it as a true relaxing affair, you will be taking it with up to three others on your small table and the only fresh thing is the bread! The lady who clears things away during the sitting is also very noisy and slightly grumpy...

So if you want a better one I suggest getting fresh pastries at the Café Del Albizi down the road.

The major downside is definately the bathrooms, if you are unfortunate enough to not have ensuite. There are two and neither are conveniently located for shared bathrooms.
One, the largest is at the back of the breakfast room of all places and the other is literally a cube at the end of a long corridor, which is a pain at night as it is dark and noisy if you are anywhere near its vicinity.

So Bavaria all in all is very charming and economical, it's a great location just be warned it's closer to a hostel and it has it's quirks!

Room Tip: Ask for an ensuite!!!! Get a shower before breakfast 4 flights of stairs to reach the hotel from...

Average albergo in the centre of Florence. Spread over 2 floors at the top of the building, the rooms are spacious and adequate. Bathroom ok but shower poor if others using water - this was an en-suite room. View from window was exceptional - Duomo dome in all its glory. Facilities for tea/coffee....kettle provided but needed a uk adaptor! Comfortable beds but fan only and it got warm up so high. Only real complaint was the breakfast...dire would be too nice. However, ideally suited to sightseers and not overly expensive.

So this Hotel was my 7th hotel on my Tuscany trip in 2013.
And before going into details :
You should not book this hotel. No airconditioning, Very unstable Wifi (breaks down every 2-3min) is usable only in the lobby. The public toilets (you have to call them that way) were dirty and very small. The only good thing, and really thats it, is the location. But fore a few more Euro you can get a better hotel that is also located in the city center.

This hotel has 1 Star and basically this is saying everything.
The rooms are quite clean and have high sealings. The beds are ok.
We encountered no bed bugs or anything else. There is NO airconditioning which will drive you crazy during the hot nights in august. There is a almost broken down fan from the 90s which is not cooling at all. If you open up the windows to get fresh hot air you invite the local mosquito polulation to party all night long.

I though no air conditioning is ok for a few days. But after 3 nights of little sleep due to heat and ichty bites you are starting to forget about the good location and pray for a good and peaceful night.

After the horrific nights you cramp yourself into the toilet. The shower has a height of about 1,70m and the height of the roof in the bathroom is 1,85m. And well i am 1,90m and it was so awkward to shower with your neck bend trying to get some of the little water that is coming from the shower.

The WiFi was a complete joke. It is only working from time to time. And if you are lucky enough to get a connection you will be disconnected after a few minutes.

SO to summarize this : If you are really cheap and you can sleep like a dead man under even dire situation and if you like the feeling of being sweaty, salty and restless THIS hotel is your hot spot.
Everyone else should spend 10euros per night more and get a bit better hotel where you can at least sleep after visting beaufiful Firenze.

Room Tip: Dont take a room here!

The price of this hotel is very reasonable and staff were very nice. The location was also wonderful and very central and the building was very secure. However, the shared bathrooms were not as clean as I would have liked them to be and one the bathrooms was extremely cramped and hard to use. The breakfast was just average, but it was nice that it was included. The wi-fi was also not so strong and could only be used in the breakfast area. The fact that it had no air-conditioning was the most disappointing. The two fans the hotel provided were okay, but it was very hard to sleep when it was so hot!

Bavaria is a nice, small, authentic looking budget hotel in Florence.
The hotel itself is nothing special, but it has a great location. Only a few minutes walk from Duomo. We also liked all these small restaurants and coffe shops located around Bavaria Hotel.

We had a room with a private shower. It was a very interesting experience ;) We stayed there in November so it was quite cold in our room but this is what you get in old buildings in Italy during winter months.
The hotel serves a tipical Italian breakfast, which is a coffe and tea, croisants, honey, chocolate ect.
Staff was helpfull.
In my opinion it's a perfect place for travelers who want to visit the city more than stay in a hotel room.

Room Tip: I don't recomend it to wheelchairs. The hotel is located at at the last floor of the building an...

We were looking for a budget stay with a great location, and this was perfect. This was the perfect base, 5 mins from the duomo and not much further to the Piazza della Signore, off which the Palazza Vecchio and the Ufezi Gallery is, which proved perfect for us. The staff were friendly, and very helpful. There was no lock out time, and all though there was only two shared showers, we never had to wait for them. I would happily go back again.

nice hotel, old fashioned, very spacious with decent breakfast and very friendly staff. The beds are comfortable with nice view, clean bathroom, makes you feel a little bit 'italian'.Large selections of cafe, tourist destination, and streetfood is just around the corner. But i am not comfortable of how hard it can be to actually locate this hotel.I'm a newbie at backpacking back then,so it can be a little bit confusing for beginners, because the hotel's on a compound or something. There are no sign so i would be very pleased if i can find the hotel a lot easier.Nice and antique.Perfect for your stay in Firenze.
