We booked this hotel for one night because the one we really wanted wasnt available until the next night . I was looking for a reasonable place at a good price and close to the other room. Anyway we were very happy , the room was in a good location , was great value , good breakfast . The only draw back was a shared bathroom , we like our own but its really not a problem for one night . Overall no complaints.

We stayed for two nights in Florence in June, before travelling down to the Amalfi coast. Being on a budget we chose hotel Bavaria because it had a central location which meant we could walk everywhere. It certainly was central being situated next to the Duomo, which is one of the main attractions in Florence. However, the hotel was close to everything and we managed to get around a lot in 2 days!

The rooms are quite basic, but they are very spacious and have a romantic feel to them being in a very old building, situated off a cobbled street. We had one with a shower cubicle but did have to use a shared toilet. However, we were aware of this when we booked and this is reflected in the low price of the hotel, so it was not a problem. The hotel also offers a basic continental breakfast with tea and coffee which again was great if you want to quickly fill up and get on with seeing the city. I found the staff at the hotel very polite and welcoming and happy to help with any queries and provided a map of the city.

There is a great trattoira opposite the entrance to the hotel where we had a great 5 course meal include the Florentine Bistecca which was an amaing steak! There is also two great gelaterias - one called Grome just round the corner and the other is to the left when turning out of the hotel entrance.

Overall, a great place to stay if you are on a budget and would rather spend your money in the great city of Florence.

I was surprised that there were no elevators to go up three very long flights of stairs, so we had to drag our suitcases all the way up, and that was not fun. An elevator would have been nice, but of course, this is a very old building, so it comes with the territory.

Our room was very basic and very hot because there is no air-conditioning (this is crucial in June!) We had a little armoire, table, bed, and sink because we had to share COMMUNAL BATHROOMS! Yes, like in college. Not fun. Not fun at all.

That being said, you're really not supposed to spend much time in your room when you are somewhere as incredible as Italy, so we didn't suffer too much. The location is great and very close to the Duomo.

Cannot complain about this place. The room was big and adequate and the location is spectacular. About a minute from Il Duomo. In Florence, you want a place to sleep and go to the bathroom if you are like us...and this hotel is just fine. Cheap, clean, friendly staff, nice little breakfast. I would do it again. If you can spend an extra few bucks, get a room with its own bathroom!!

Hotel Bavaria is a small family-run business, located in the heart of Florence. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, well-informed and ready for a wonderful stay in Florence. The room was clean, the shared bathroom was a little walk down the hall, but convenient enough, and overall, the place felt safe.
