We were lucky enough to stay at the Residenza Strozzi last October (2012) for a relaxing four nights. On arrival our host was very welcoming, and kindly showed us around the chapel and explained the local bus service, and the best places to visit in the area.

The owner had meticulously and tastefully renovated the chapel, complete with decorative frescos adorning the chapel ceiling and walls. The chapel itself is located in the grounds of a wealthy Hollywood media mogul country estate, with views across the distant skyline of Florence (you could make out the silhouette of The Duomo.)

I urge you to stay at this wonderful retreat and enjoy its peaceful surroundings and close proximity to Florence (in fact the pictures do not do this place justice.) I recommend this place and cannot wait to return again.

Residenza Strozzi is a special place to stay. The history of Florence came alive as we learned about the Strozzi Family and their impact on the city. The owners, Guido and Pia, made us feel welcome and always there to help. It was nice to be in the country, but also have easy access to town using public transportation. If you're interested in Italian history, this is a place you'd definitely want to stay! We highly recommend it.

Lovely location, away from the city noise. Set in a large estate, feels like you're in the middle of the countryside. The chapel certainly provided a unique setting! Guido was extremely helpful and more than willing to lend a hand/provide advice where needed. Plus there was plenty of information about local transport and sights to see available in the apartment. If we ever get the chance to come back to the area, we would definitely want to stay here again!

My husband and I had a great stay at this little chapel. Guido was very welcoming and helpful (once we found the chapel after entering the very large BEAUTIFUL property!) and made us feel right at home. It was a very easy 5 minute drive into town where we parked for free and could take a bus anywhere. We enjoyed Florence and especially this very sweet place to stay. Would definitely go back.

The Chapel is situated in a beautiful park, next to a large villa. It is close to transport links and well equipped. The owners are extremely helpful with information about the local area. The building itself has been beautifully restored with fantastic paintings. I would recommend you stay here if visiting Florence!

Dear Guido and Pia
What a wonderful and special 10 days we have had here at Residenza Strozzi! The Chapel apartment is a magical place. You have furnished and decorated so thoughtfully and in keeping with the era of the home. Your garden is a beautiful place e we enjoyed our night BBQ'ing e sitting out under the stars on the brief respite from the unusually large amount of rain we had during our stay! Your recommendation to Teatro del sale was one of the best evenings out we've ever had filled with delicious Tuscan food, tango music and happiness. Thank you both for helping make our honeymoon so special. We hope to come back one day, sleep under the frescoes and to send many friends your way.

The positives:-
The room and facilities at Residenza Strozzi are interesting, unusual and, in the main, more than adequate. Other reviewers have given a good indication of what you get.
The location is fine, as long as you want an out of town and quiet place away from the hustle ands bustle of Florence.

The negatives:-
When our booking was confirmed it was supposed to include a "welcome pack". We arrived early on Sunday evening to find that there was, effectively, nothing useable. We had a very small amount of instant coffees and some tea bags. Nothing else. No milk, bread, eggs, soap, washing-up liquid. Essentially nothing. So we took a walk into the local village where, of course, everything was shut. So it wasn't possible to get anything for breakfast on Monday morning. I did comment about this to the owners wife (the owner was away) on Monday evening and we did get some soap, but my email to the owner has gone unanswered since.
The room is fine, but has no windows which you can actually see the views from. A window on the side looks onto an inaccessible courtyard, and the only window on the front is too high to see out of.
There was no TV in the room, and the rather old radio/CD player present didn't sem to work at all.
The bus into town leaves from the village which is a 10 minute walk away along an unlit path. The bus then terminates at the north end of town, a good 15 minute walk from the centre. So, after a hard day's sightseeing you're faced with a fair walk back to the bus stop, then another walk back to the residence at the other end. In addition, the buses in the late evening leave at 30 minute intervals (it's 20 minutes during the day) so the journey can take a good 60-90 minutes….and the last bus leaves town at around 10.30pm.

Would we use Residenza Strozzi again. I know that most of the reviews of it are pretty positive, but from our point of view it didn't prove to be a good choice for spending time in Florence. It might have been better though, as a base for touring the more rural areas of the region.
We found some of the detail elements to fall short of the mark too.
So, no, we wouldn't choose to stay there again.
