Our family of four spent 3 nights at Palazzo Gamba in the 6th floor Vasari Apartment - 2 bedrooms, 2 bath rooms, and a living/dining/kitchen area with appliances (stove, dishwasher, etc). Very safe, clean and well maintained. Our two teenage boys (13 and 15 years) loved it. There's a narrow elevator to take upto 4 people up - if you want to avoid taking the stairs.

A very centrally located apartment with views on the duomo and the baptistery on one side and a very serene Florentine countryside (red roof tops and mountains) on the other side. It is a 5-7 min walk to Santa Maria Novella train station; 5 min walk to Accdemia; 7-8 min walk to Ufizzi; 10-12 min walk to Santa Croche. I'd stop by the caffe across the street in the mornings to pick up croissants and capuccino (it opens at 7 AM), as we did not want to cook. There's a take-out or eat-in deli in the same building (you have to go out the main door and head towards the Duomo). There are some good restaurants in the area too - little pricey.

As we were in the 6th floor, we did not hear much noise, but I think the lower floors (larger and higher ceiling apartments) could get a little noisy due to the ambulances and late night tourists in the Piazza.

Marco and his team were very helpful and responsive in answering all our questions during our booking and days leading to our visit. Grazie, Marco!

We will come back and stay here again!!

Location of course is great - minutes from the best sights of Florence. A second visit didn't disappoint except for the view - the rooms facing the Duomo are a plus. Having said that the 1 bed apartment was very clean, roomy, very comfortable and well equipped. The service is polite and impeccable - room cleaning in particular. Starting the day with espresso and pastries or a panini in the self-service restaurant on the ground floor of the building was a pleasure - although aimed at tourists it's good value and a sharp contrast to the experience at home in the likes of Starbucks and Costa. Booking.com used and the price of 130 euros a night for this quality and service is real value for money - definitely want to return

Fantastic apartment, the best location in Florence, we were on the 5th floor in an extremely large apartment. Two bedroom with one of the rooms having an ensuite. The lounge area was quite large and can easily accomodate another bed which the did with no trouble at all. The proprietors fall over themselves helping you and providing you with information and maps. NIce tray of lollies on the counter that you can take with you on the way out sightseeing. The room we have we could practically touch the Duomo. The bathroom was a little small but we didnt care as we don't sleep in the bathroom. The only thing that I did miss that the apartment didnt have was a washing machine, had everything else but that. There are a couple of laundromats around the corner. The apartment itself was extremely clean, had everything else in it that you could possibly want. Supermarket around the corner. At night there is always a huge gathering, musicians playing and singers in the cobblestoned streets. Would not go anywhere else, will always come back to this apartment.

Thank you very much for you positive rewiew, for the washing machine is a little bit complicated to add in the apartment, but I'll take care of your suggestion. In Palazzo Gamba the only apartment with the washing machine is Penthouse Suite. We hope to see you again here. Marco

Staying at Palazzo Gamba was the highlight of our recent trip to Europe. Nora (the manager) was incredibly helpful and friendly. She was full of great suggestions and nothing was too much trouble. The apartment was stunning with windows looking directly out to the Duomo and St John's baptistry. You really can't get any closer to the centre of Florence than this! The beds were bliss, fabulous kitchen with everything you could want including a coffee machine and dishwasher! Amazing frescos on the ceilings and lovely (but compact) bathrooms. We were blessed to spend Christmas at Palazzo Gamba and we even received a beautiful Christmas present from them on the day! I would have expected apartments of this quality and proximity to the Duomo to be much more expensive. It doesn't get any better than Palazzo Gamba! Stay there, you'll love it!!!!

Room Tip: The two bedroom apartments are enormous and a bit more luxurious than the one room ones.
