I knew that this hotel was far from the city center but I didn't realize how far it was. I thought that the shuttle would be convenient but it's weird schedule was not.
We checked in and were given a room with two twin beds even though I had reserved and paid for a king bed. The first time ever I've been downgraded instead of upgraded in a hotel. Go back down and they gave me an "upgrade" to a city view. What city view? Yes you can see the Duomo in the far distance but I wouldn't call that a city view. The room was nice, the bathroom had a nice tub which the first room didn't and it was maybe a couple feet bigger. But the light blocking shutters were so nice that we slept until 11 am the first day. Great way to rest from a long flight. Hilton members get free wifi so sign up before going if you are not already a member.
If the shuttle fits your schedule it's fine but the hours are weird being 1 hour apart to 1.5 hours so it's hard to remember. Because we were at a conference we ended up taking a cab several times because the shuttle did not fit our schedule. I didn't like this inconvenience but all the drivers were very polite and helpful. The shuttle does drop you off on the far side of the train station so it's a good walk into town still.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but across the street there's a small bar that sells pastries and coffee for 1EUR. We ate at a bar next door at the mall and the food was fine and had huge portions. Not a lot of options but good for when you are hungry and don't want to spend all the time to go to town.
There is a beautiful hot tub in the basement but you have to pay an extra 8EUR to use it. The only Hilton that charges extra to use a facility such as a hot tub. There is also a great exercise room in the basement. It was an okay hotel. Nothing memorable about it except how far it was.
