Great stay at this small pension. It's like staying at your italian grandmother's house, a little quirky, an old house, but comfortable. It's near the train station, the central market, good restaurants close by, about 10-15 minutes from the historical centre of town. The owners are friendly and helpful, and sharing a bathroom with a couple of other rooms is not a problem. In an expensive city it was great value.

This hotel i use the term very loosely is really well placed for central florence. But dont expect breakfast you just have to help yourself to anything that is in the fridge and there isnt very much. Rita the manager/owner seemed to be hungover a lot of the time, she told us that more guests were coming on our second day and could we write a shopping list for breakfast items we named a few but they never appeared. The door to the hotel is down a very dark long alley way with no lights. The rooms are ok , clean enough. When we stayed here there was scaffolding and workmen working every morning. We paid extra for a private bathroom but on our third day they let someone else share ours with us and they used some of our toiletries. If you want an adventure book this hotel but if you want a nice clean hotel look elsewhere.

This was one of our favorite places on the trip but I can't give it a high rating. It was scary going down the long dark entry hallway the first time when we didn't know where we would end up. You won't get reliability and consistency but it will be an adventure and it has been one of the things we talk about when we recount our trip to others.
Free internet was down but they gave us a USB to plug in for a dial-up speed internet when we asked for it.
Breakfast is anything you request...I guess. She said just let her know the night before. She went out to buy fresh bread in the morning for us. We had fresh fruit, pastries, yoghurt, coffee, tea, juice, cereal, and others had bacon and eggs.
Our room was the main floor room which had a private bathroom that we had to exit our room and walk through the common dining room to get to. But that worked out fine for us. Rooms upstairs share a bathroom in the hall and one room upstairs has a bathroom in the room but those renters said it was so small that the shower sprayed onto the toilet and sink.
Nice patio and private courtyard area but has scaffolding in place that looks semi-permanent and just dirt where a few pavers would have made it very nice.
If you arrive after hours there may not be anyone there to let you in and you will be standing on the street pressing a buzzer. We were lucky to arrive at noon but when we buzzed the intercome said "come on in" but we didn't have a key to get in. An old couple came up and unlocked the door so we followed them in and found the apt door at the end of the hall locked. It was promptly opened after a quick knock. At first all of this was daunting and we wondered if we had made a mistake. But in the end we really liked staying here and would recommend Ninna Nanna IF you are adventurous.

"This was one of our favorite places on your journey." Thank

the structure and 'old with thick walls so you can not always connect wi-fi on the first floor

but the medieval walls allow you to stay fresh forever (all just come and say 'nice .. here is fresh)

we have 2 USB with 2 different operators to connect a dial-up high-speed internet

every day we buy bread, milk fresh in Via San yougort zanobi.E 'can also have breakfast with a little extra salt.

Nice patio and private yard in July when the scaffolding will be raised '
visible in all its splendor of all redo redone and repainted.

"But in the end we really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it IF you are adventurous Lullaby"

I normally do not review hotels I stay at but when I saw this one pop up again, I had to share my experiences.

We arrived at the the time we said we would arrive, sometime around 5pm. The owner, Rita, was still taking her afternoon nap and took a while to answer the door. Even though I speak Italian and addressed her in Italian, she seemed extremely confused as to why we were there. Eventually she let us through the front door and asked us to wait as the room was not ready. We sat and waited for around half an hour as she dotted around, seemingly not doing very much. Eventually we got her attention again and she remembered our room, so she shouted to a youngish man asleep in the garden (her nephew maybe) who woke up and slouched into the house. She told us the room would take a while and we should go out for an hour while he made it up, which we did. When we came back 2 hours later the room still hadn't been made up. We were offered Aperitivo in the garden, a nice touch but we wanted our room. We were finally shown to one which did not have an ensuite bathroom, as we had requested and paid extra for. When we pointed this out the young man sighed loudly and slouched off to make up the other room for us grudgingly. When we finally got to our room it was filthy and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. By this point we had decided to pick our battles and complaining about the cleanliness was too much of an effort at that moment. Hot and sweaty from our trip, we wanted to shower. We tried to turn our shower on and it didn't work. We went down to the man and explained. He sighed again and trudged up the stairs, fiddled pointlessly with the shower, sighed again and told us to wait until tomorrow and we could use the communal bathroom.

We finally had a shower and escaped as quickly as possible to enjoy the evening in Florence. We were tired when we got home late and looking forward to a nice sleep. At around 7am, all hell broke loose as the cleaning lady arrived, shrieking her gossip to Rita at the top of her voice, from the 2nd floor (our level) down to the ground floor. This noise continued for a few hours every early morning for the remainder of our stay, preventing us from sleeping later than 7am each morning. We got up (again to escape) and went out. In the afternoon we came back to take a short nap. Rita came back and knocked on our door, wanting to know something about the length of our stay, and waking us from our sleep. This continued throughout the stay as well.

On the second last day, she again woke us up to insist that we pay. Groggy from our sleep, we said we were staying an extra night and would pay when we left. She began to cry, and wailed that she had no money and needed to buy food. We only had about 60 Euros but gave that to her (to get her to leave us alone more than anything else) and said we would pay on the next day.

Throughout our stay, Rita would sometimes walk around in underwear, even when cleaning the rooms. Everything was incredibly scattily organised, to say the least. When we arrived home even relatively early (10pm or so) she would screech at us from her bedroom on the ground floor to turn off the light, even before we had (silently) crossed the hallway.

After we finally escaped this terrible place for Cinque Terre, she bombarded me with requests for linking to personal social networking sites such as myspace and facebook for months afterward, since she had my email address from the booking.

The overall experience was terrible. Find somewhere else!! Anywhere would be better than this!

Room Tip: change to another hotel

Unfortunately I was not well with a tooth. So 'I took a painkiller
That leaves not feel the intense pain but leaves the tooth numb for a while '.
Good thing happened to me very rarely going to the dentist

Even in restaurants when the tables are not ready for some reason
It offers an aperitif in the garden .. trying to make friends.
but we wanted our room ..
I think with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, 2 upstairs
and 2 pine is less common bathroom to be shared between 2 people at most.
I'm sorry you have had an impression however, that such 'negative.

Truly you had to choose a class with an appropriate price to the standard of 3 stars

Me and my girlfriend stayed in Ninna Nanna in December 2010. The hostel is right in the center of Florence.
Rita is a great warm person, joyful, chatty...italian!
If you're an open person and like to know people and different cultures you better go to Ninna Nanna. It's not simply an hostel, it's a portal to an italian experience. And it was really cheap.

The owner opened the door in a bathrobe. There were boxes everywhere. Even though it says on her page that you have guaranteed parking, do not buy it. You don't. She told us-"Leave the car in front, maybe no penalty. The garage (public) if you like is 20 instead 25 euro. " Yes, her English is that bad. Do not get me wrong, the location is great. In fact, so great that if you have a car you have to pay for a permit to drive in the ZTL (limited traffic zone) where this B&B is. Find sth else. There are plenty of decent hotels for a cheaper price.
