We stayed here actually twice in May of this year. This last trip marks our fifth stay at this great establishment. We have never been disappointed in any way during our visits. If your going to really see Florence than this location is where you want to stay. Florence is a true walking city and by staying here you are perfectly situated to really enjoy it. Restaurants, shopping, and museums are just a few minutes away. The view out your windows onto the plaza is just fantastic. Rooms are just spotless and the staff try very hard to please. Heads up for those with lots of heavy luggage. Elevators are rare in these buildings and the first floor reception is actually on the second floor. It's a good climb up these stairs but absolutely worth the few extra minutes of the stairs. Wi-Fi is fast, A/C always works when you need it, and the rooms including the bathrooms are always spotless. If you want location and a fantastic view of a beautiful plaza than this place would really be hard to beat.

Room Tip: Reception is on the second floor. Rooms with the best view are the ones right above the reception area facing the plaza. Night life on the plaza can be very lively till very late at night. It's really not a problem though. Just close the windows and the interior blinds and the room becomes very quiet. The A/C takes care of the rest.

it's not often you find somewhere to stay that actually surpasses the hotel website, well, La Casa del Garbo does just that.
From the assistance making our booking to be shown our beautiful room tastefully decorated in the style of the area, we could not have been happier.

We stayed in the Lorenzo suite which had a small kitchen and dining area as well as a very comfortable bed. But the view from the windows onto the Piazza della Signoria, and across to the Palazzo Vecchio, the Neptune fountain, and the statues at the Ofizzi were the icing on the cake!

Each morning, the excellent staff brought our breakfast, of fresh bread, chesse, cold meats, and fresh fruit with pot of coffee and tea to our room, which we enjoyed looking out to the almost deserted Piazza della Signoria, what a great way to start your day!

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants on the door step, where you can have a nice meal, or just a cup of coffee, with a dangerously delicious pastry, and watch life on the Piazza.

Most of the sites are just minutes away, the Dumo, Ponte Vecchio, San Croce, Medicci Chapel and library, and don't miss the local fresh market, where you can buy some meats and fresh bread, to a nice lunch.

We had only one complaint...we should have stayed longer, the staff in La Casa del Garbo were excellent, and very helpful, nothing was a problem for the..

Thank you Casa del Garbo for making our visit so enjoyable, as Arnold would say, we'll be back !!

First off, let me say this place is in an AMAZING location. I think the only place that would be better is to be on the river, but we have a full plaza view out three windows. So, we are in the Leonardo Suite at this bed and breakfast. This is on the second floor (note that the ground floor is zero).

The room has a nice siting area with a kitchen. It is a very large suite, especially for European standards. Our reservations were set and everything is exactly according to our travel agent (good job Nicole). Overall I would stay in the place (especially this room) again.

The Good:
1. Location location location!!!
2. The room is large.
3. The bed is nice and firm, but not hard. Just as I like it.
4. We could open the windows and hear the crowd. It made me feel like we are part of the city.
5. The air conditioner REALLY WORKS!!! I LOVED IT!!!!
6. The wifi is fast!!!
7. The toilet paper smells of roses...
8. We had a full kitchen with a frig and everything. So we had plenty of room for leftovers.

Needs Work:
1. The breakfast is a little thin. I'd like more options and certainly more coffee. While i know this is Italy and they do things a certain way, i need more than a single cup of coffee in the morning. Also, it would be nice to have more options.
2. A tub in the bathroom would be nice. It has one of the small double sliding door showers in the corner. It is TIGHT!!! But mostly, after a day of site seeing, i'd like to soak in a tub.
3. More and better soap and shampoo. There is no conditioner.
4. The decor is a bit outdated.
5. UGH!!! why can't if figure out all the light switches in Italy. There were lights I could never figure out how to turn on and switches that seemingly controlled nothing.

The bad:
1. The sofa in the living area is HORRIBLE!!! It's hard to describe how it feels to sit in it. Needless to say, i didn't sit in it very long.
2. There was a note that we are suppose to take the trash out to the bin (outdoors) daily. what! what! what! yeah. that didn't happen.

Room Tip: Definitely try to get a room facing the square and experience the noise of the city!!!

The location, yes, the beautiful, stylishly decorated rooms, being minutes away from everything Florence is for most of its visitors - all of this would be enough to recommend this place to anyone who'd ask my advice on where to stay when in Florence. However, the "cherry on the cake" that is La Casa del Garbo must be the exquisite service and consideration you receive from the staff. They are helpful in every way; no question, no request is too small for them. Having breakfast by the window overlooking Palazzo Vecchio, taking in the cold stone views of the past surrounding the lively, colourful noises of the present is one of the wonderful surprises of this special place.

Being a regular traveller to Florence I find this place the most perfect location to reside. Not only is in centrally located but the room are exquisite. More importantly the staff go out of their way to help in every way. I have stayed with my wife but also with a large group and on both occasions all our needs were catered for. I could not recommend a place in Florence more fully.

Room Tip: The deluxe doubles are worth the extra. The bathrooms are incredible and the view to die for.
