My wife and I are from New York and we have rented an apartment in the Trastevere Section of Rome for three months. We are using it as our base and traveling from there. Our first trip was to Florence and we stayed at the Hotel Santa Croce. This is a very special hotel. There are many very good things about it, but I feel the best and most important is its location. It is just a short walk to all that Florence has to offer. It is a short taxi ride to and from the train station and it is located in a lovely section of the city.
Our room was very pleasant. We were upgraded to a junior suite and it is somewhat small for a suite but it was the perfect size for us. The large bathroom comes with an excellent shower that can be turned into a steam shower although we never did that. The bed was large and very comfortable and the linens and towels were excellent. The room was decorated nicely with simple appointments that were subtle and elegant. Our room provided us with plenty of closet space as well as many drawers and shelves that we used for our belongings.
Breakfast was very good. A very nice assortments of cereals, yogurts, pastries, cakes, meats and cheeses greeted us every morning. The coffee was amazing!
The staff of the hotel was very pleasant, and more importantly they were all extremely helpful. They were able to secure great dining reservations for us and they helped us orient ourselves to the city. This was our third time in Florence and if we ever return and want to stay right in town we would not consider any place other than the Hotel Santa Croce.
