“Resindence Michelangelo - A Wonderful Place to stay again & again.”
Reviewed 26 October 2010

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2007 and returned to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday in 2010 with a trip to Italy and a wonderful stay at the Residence Michelangelo. Each visit was made special by Cherubino and Angela our incredible hosts. It was such a wonderful place to stay, we will return again and again. Cherubino and Angela are extremely helpful with advice and booking tickets, planning driving trips in the wonderful Tuscany country side, it was just perfect. After a long day it was so nice to get back to the Residence, relax on our terrace with the two couples that traveled with us to enjoy wine, cheese and fruit.

Our room was a suite on the first floor and was absolutely beautiful, with everything you needed to make it feel like home. Angela's help before our trip to Italy was amazing. Every email question was answered and it seemed like conversing with a friend. You could not choose a more convenient location or more lovely family to stay with while visiting Florence. It is a delightful 10 minute walk along the River Arno to the City Center, away from throngs of tourists and city congestion allowing you to enjoy life in a delightful Florentine neighborhood. Thank you Angela and Cherubino for another wonderful holiday! We are so thankful for your kindness and the celebration that you prepared for Ralph. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

We had 3 nights in Florence and decided not to stay in the centre of town. This hotel is a lovely big family home which has been converted to hotel accommodation. The bedrooms are huge and so are the windows which open out with large shutters. We loved it here.
It's a 20 minute walk along the river to the town and there are local family run stores for supplies and meals a couple of streets away. There is also a bus to town.
Our hostess, Angela, gave us wonderful ideas for restaurants to dine at and because we had a rental car she helped us plan our 2 days driving. Everything was spot on.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed three nights at this charming family operated old world style residence hotel. It is located in a safe and beautiful residential area just across the river from the historic center of Florence and easy access to the highways if you have a car. Parking is free and secure. It is just an easy 15- 20 min walk along the river to the Ponte Vecchio and the attractions of Florence. We had a lovely grand room on the second floor with large tall windows overlooking the courtyard that we left open at night to enjoy the cool evening breezes. Angela , the owner and hostess could not have been more friendly or accomodating. She was more than happy to help with museum tours, travel directions, reservations at the many excellent local restaurants or any other need that came up. She treats her guests just like family and there were warm hugs all around when it sadly came time to leave. Would definitely stay here again.

From the minute we arrived Angela greeted us with gracious hospitality and good helpful advice about the area. Being our first visit to Firenze we loved the walk into the city but also enjoyed the neighborhood coffee shop and local grocery for wine, cheese and goodies. The villa was charming and had everything we needed including free and safe parking. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the experience!

We stayed at Residence Michelangiolo for seven nights when we visited Florence in September. It is a rather beautifully restored Liberty Villa (circa 1917) with huge rooms and high ceilings. The restoration has been cleverly executed to include modern amentities such as air conditioning and broadband without detracting from the building which still retains original features such as window shutters. It is located in substantial private gardens just off the Viale Michelangiolio which is quite a busy main road so there is some road noise, (though you do get used to it).
Our room was very spacious with a well fitted, modern shower room ensuite. It was clean and well decorated, and the bed was enormous (6 feet +), and comfortable.
The hotel is about 25 minutes walk from the Uffizi Gallery at the centre of Florence and this was one of its attractions to us. It was a pleasant walk along the river to reach the centre, but we could have easily caught the bus from the square about 200 m from the hotel.
The hotel does not provide meals, but each room contains a cunningly concealed 'micro-kitchen' which consists of a fridge, sink, and 2 ring hob, together with the essential coffee pot, various pots and pans, and plates, glasses and cutlery. While this isn't quite up to major cooking it is more than adequate to make tea and coffee and boil eggs for breakfast, (though the addition of egg cups would be a good idea!). There are a number of excellent bakeries and shops nearby to provide the raw materials for this, but if you get bored with making your own breakfast you can always go to one the local cafes and have pastries and coffee there.
There are a number of very good, and well priced, local restaurants for evening meals and either Angela or Cherubino will be happy to advise you.
All in all we were very happy with Residence Michelangiolo and it lived up to our expectations completely. Angela and Cherubino are delightful and couldn't be more helpful. They can be righfully proud of their hotel.

We stayed at the Residence Michelangelo in August 2007 and as it was such a wonderful place to stay, we decided to return this year as part of our holiday touring Italy and France. We were not disappointed! The warm welcome from Cherubino, help with advice and booking tickets, fabulous suite, it was just perfect. We got the bus into the centre as the stop is just around the corner and it is a very good service. After a busy day it was so nice to get back to the Residence, so quiet and peaceful, hard to believe you were actually in Florence. As we took our car it was great to have somewhere so safe and secure to park, you don't often find this.
Our room was on the second floor and was absolutely beautiful, with everything you could possibly want. As one other reviewer said, you felt as though you had your very own apartment in Florence. Angela's English is amazing and that is such a help with museum bookings, restaurants and generally getting the very best out of your trip to this wonderful city. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Florence and can't wait to go back! Thank you Angela and Cherubino for another wonderful holiday!

Sigh. It was wonderful. We stayed for four days at Residence Michelangelio and it was like having our very own apartment in Florence. We felt like family guests - Angela and Cherubino are both such warm, kind people that we felt sad to say goodbye. We arrived by car, and enjoyed parking inside the secure locked gates, but this residential neighborhood is a very safe and lovely place to walk about, day and night. The room and bathrooms were very old world, with tall windows that looked out on trees and garden everywhere. There were nicely furnished and very clean. We enjoyed the kitchenette and fridge for making coffee, breakfast and snacks in the room, but there is a very nice cafe only 3 minutes walk away and others that are also close. Angela has a number of business cards from many fine restaurants at the desk and let us know which ones were close or downtown. It was a tranquil oasis in contrast to the high tourist season crowds in central Florence. Truly hope to go back one day, and perhaps stay a week.
