I walked for a while to find this and it appears to be closed. It is supposed to be just past the supermarket. I sread, we stopped at the kabob shop near the roundabout by the bridge.Pretty good!!

This place not many reviews as slightly away from main drag and is much better because of that. Unlike so many places on the main streets this place depends on repeat business and so they work hard to get people to come back. it shows in the lovely food, wine, service and prices. It doesn’t have that many reviews either, so you’re unlikely to find it on trip advisor who tend to put the most reviewed places near the top of their listings. Anyway if you do come across it I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. I had a basic pasta with mushroom and tomatoes followed by chicken with asparagus, accompanied with white beans and olive oil and a beautiful bottle of Pinot Grigio.

It has a modest entryway and decor, but the courtyard at the rear is a haven, especially if you have spent hours feasting visually on the Pitti Palace's treasures. The food is excellent and local in style (they do whole fish very well) and reasonably priced.

They open at 7:30pm and it's like you're walking in to someone's house that's been converted to a restaurant. The staff is very friendly, but we didn't see Anna like the other reviews suggests. We had good wine, bruschetta, and two plates of pasta. The pasta sauce was great, but the penne could have been a little fresher. Overall, a great find while walking through this neighborhood.

I have known this place for nearly 20 years, and can't emphasize enough how authentic it is and how reliable it is. At the end of Via Pisana as you walk from Porta Pisana, you can literally pass right by Trattoria Anna as it is so non-desrcript. Walk inside and you will find a very sparse front room and a medium salon and then a larger big room, again very sparse.
But, once inside you will find the true heart of the Florentines. Locals who are there every day, who are fun and talkative and animated- it is like being in a movie at lunchtime. Good local wine that is pre-poured into various sizes of carafes that you can just help yourself to off the counter like you are family. Don't expect fancy service (most people set their own table). The food is cooked by Anna and there is no menu- each day there is a trio of sauces for either pasta or polenta and some other homemade treat like gnocchi. Fridays feature seafood. The secondi are working-man's stews, or a good Milanese. Contorni are the same- potatos, beans, sauteed greens. Don't come here for a fancy entree or salad.
The bottom line is that this is not for everyone- they speak only Italian. They don't have many choices. Laura the server wants you to order quickly as she is often alone in the whole place. The food is basic. But, you will experience the true Italy. Lots of cross table yelling and laughing. Lots of coming and going. Great people watching. And, when Anna comes out of the kitchen to greet her longstanding customers, lots of love. And I love this place....
