“If you want to see whole building, book before the tour!”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

The medieval culture and life style was always one of the most favorite topic for me. In Palazzio Davanzati you can experience it on your own skin.If you will come there without booking a tour before ( you can do it or online or by phone) you can see just two floors of the palace, so if you have a chance to do it, you will see whole building.

“An intimate insight into 14th C Florentine living”
Reviewed 22 February 2014

We stepped into this beautiful Palazzo expecting a short visit, as it does not receive much attention in the main guidebooks. But boy we were glad we did. It was a Sunday morning, so a soprano was singing, accompanied by classical guitar in the covered central courtyard. Their beautiful music drifted up throughout the building as we wandered up the stairs from level to level. It was not crowded so we could take our time in each room to enjoy the intricately painted wall & ceiling decoration and furnishings. We felt we had a really intimate insight into the life of a wealthy Florentine family...and it was fascinating. It usually closes at 2pm, so you need to make time to visit in the morning.

“Stepping Back in Time”
Reviewed 30 January 2014

Anyone visiting Florence should visit this gem. It was fantastic! This beautifully preserved palace gives you a real flavour of a late 14th century home. I really felt like I was stepping back in time and it was a bargain to visit at only 2€!

If you want to visit the 3rd floor they open it on the hour at 10am, 11am and 12 noon.

The lace collection was also fascinating.

“So interesting”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

This is the home of an upper class medieval family, and it had so many fascinating features, including fanciful drain pipes, toilets, unusual openings in the floor to the outside. Great collection of lace artifacts. Our guide told us some wonder stories.

“Less famous but very interesting”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

There was a useful guided tour, which I enjoyed very much. They led us all around the lodgings and told us how various kitchen equipment was used, the story behind some of the artwork, etc etc - brought the place alive for me. Less famous and therefore you're not fighting for breathing space like you are in many of the touristy places in Florence.
