The place is in the heart of Florence - stone's throw away from both the Duomo and the Galleria dell'Academia, as well as the other attractions in the city. Our host, Ms. Lasti, was very warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. She made lovely breakfast and also gave us helpful tips on how to go about the city. Highly recommended!

My boyfriend and I have recently returned from a long weekend at Cavour 10.

We found the hotel with ease and the location is fabulous - you can't get more central!

We were given the warmest of welcomes and the lady who greeted us took the time to recommend a number of good restaurants in the area.

The room let our stay down - it was large, but had an unpleasant smell. The bed was uncomfortable and we found hairs in the bathroom.

Our room was at the front of the building and it was incredibly noisy at night with sirens, traffic and pedestrians. We also got bitten to death by mosquitos (which I still have scars from!).

I wish I could be more positive as the staff are so friendly and helpful, but I'm afraid If I ever return to Florence, I would pay a bit more and stay in a different hotel.

If you have booked a stay at Cavour 10, I advise taking some strong mosquito repellent!

Simply put, Walter and his B&B made our trip to Florence unforgettable.

After getting a bit lost in heavy nighttime fog with the aid of a Hertz-provided GPS that told us to drive down closed roads, we were already putting Walter a bit out, arriving well after a regular check-in time. To add to the problem, no Cavour signage from the road left us driving around Florence 1) wondering if we were in the right place and 2) wondering how so many cars fit into such a minimal volume. Let's just say I've driven a 20 foot U-Haul through Manhattan and it was easier to navigate and park that truck than it was an Opel sedan in Florence.

Eventually Walter drove out to meet us in front of the B&B after many phone calls made more confusing by our limited Italian and Walter's wife's working English, all while illegally parked near il duomo. In short, Walter helped us find parking, negotiated a great rate for garage parking, told us everything we should see in Florence, then personally made us breakfast the next day. And somehow all that was communicated by someone who knew a couple of words of English to two people who knew a couple of words of Italian. (I've been in many business meetings of native English speakers where more was said yet less was communicated!) Oh, and he let us leave our bags in the B&B the next day as we saw the city.

As for the B&B itself, the location is incredible. 2 minutes from almost everything, as Walter pointed out. We comfortably walked a big chunk of the city. The bed was comfortable, the space beautiful. At least 20 foot custom painted ceilings and marble bathroom, for less money than any chain hotel.

If I ever go back to Florence, I'm staying at Cavour10.

Room Tip: The room we had was excellent - didn't see the others.

The location is outstanding, within walking distance of anything you would want to see in this magic museum-city. And the staff are most friendly, which is remarkable in a place like Florence that crawls with tourists. Italians are just friendly people. The rooms themselves are very nicely furnished and the delicious breakfast made with care.
However, the staff were nowhere to be found when we arrived. We tried to call them but they didn't answer the phone. When at last they did, they were extremely apologetic, but still... The walls are made of cardboard, so you can almost follow live what happens in the room next to you and the place is infested with mosquitos which keep you awake at night.

Room Tip: Keep the windows closed !!

It was so hard to chose a hotel in Florence due to the situation/price/facilities etc but we settled on the Cavour 10 B+B due to it being where we wanted plus the rooms looked large and they advertised tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We just like to chill late afternoon with a cuppa before venturing out again in the evening to eat.
It was a little hard to locate and all the information we found on line didn't really help. Basically you need to find the Palazzo Medici Riccardi and the B+B is almost opposite. Another idea is to follow the road that runs between the Baptistry and the Duomo (with the Duomo in front of you go left) and it comes right to the street you need.
We had to wait for the owner to arrive at the B+B as it isn't open all the time- he was close by but glad it wasn't raining.
The room was all we expected and more with a wonderful large room with tons of space to unpack for our 4 day stay. The painted ceiling was enchanting and so Italian! Chairs and tables helped to make the hotel room a home for our short stay.
The ensuite bathroom was also large with a novel glass panel entrance- the pictures on the web site are very good. The only problem I could see were the mosquitoes buzzing around and we did have to keep our window closed for the whole stay-I still got bitten though! Take some before and after medication you'll need it.
Sadly, we couldn't find any cups or spoons to help us with our tea craving- we took our own tea bags so were ready to go but had to make do with small glasses and a toothbrush to stir in the sugar we found in the breakfast area. No milk either so we felt the tea and coffee making facilities should not be advertised if there weren't going to be any! We did mange to secure cups and spoons the next day but they were retrieved the day after so again we had to make do.
Breakfast was the normal thing with little variation apart from the omelette Lasty made. She was a great host and looked after us well.
There was a computer for internet access which was a great plus for us as we could keep in touch when needed.
The B+B was well situated for all you need to do and see in Florence. A bit expensive but then Florence is too so we felt we had a very good deal in the end.

Room Tip: The 2 rooms at the front may be noisier than the rear one but in all cases you may have to keep your...

We were booked into a partner B&B, Soggiorno Panerai, but on arrival the owners, Walter and Albena, told us that they had been trying to contact us to tell us that they were overbooked and had transferred us to Cavour 10. Although the message hadn't been passed on to us, it was no problem at all - Walter and Albena pulled out all of the stops once we arrived at Soggiorno Panerai and drove us the few blocks down to Cavour 10 (which is actually even closer to the Duomo - a perfect location). We were very touched with the care that Albena showed for us as tired and weary train travellers on the first night of our honeymoon. Cavour 10 was perfect for our short stay - a large room with a balcony right onto the bustling street, a beautiful fresco on the ceiling and interesting medieval stone carvings preserved behind a glass case. The bathroom was large and the bed comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was served by a wonderful lady whose name unfortunately we didn't register, but she was so hospitable and helpful, and the breakfast was so delicious, that we would certainly stay again for a longer duration.

Room Tip: The green room has a balcony overlooking the street

My family and I spent a couple of days at this accomodation in August and we left with nothing but an extremely plesant impression. The place is located right in the heart of Florence and all the sights worth visiting are easily approachable within walking distance. August may not be the right time of the year to visit Florence but B&B Cavour 10 was our perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the town. The rooms were really spacious and these high masterpiece ceilings were breathtaking. And the suprisingly modern Medieval interior was simply amazing. the furniture were incredibly stylish and well arraged. The breakfast was delicious and always served fresh looking tempting. The was was really polite and helpful and the owners - i can't think of another description but dedicated professionals. Their hospitality made us feel at home and have a whale of time. All in all B&B Cavour 10 has a great atmosphere. A visit to this place ia an experience to remember and perfect for a relaxed holiday with family and friends. I highly recommend it if you are heading for Florence.
