Relais Piazza Signoria
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 30 March 2014

This apartment located right in the heart of Piazza Signoria was a great find. You couldn't ask for a better location. Walking distance to everything! Great restaurants and the Duomo! Fulvio was so helpful and was a pleasure. The apartment was very spacious for my husband and I and two adult daughters. Two queen size beds, two bathrooms and spacious! Very secure and clean, and the elevator was small but just fine for two at a time with your luggage. Definitely recommend!

We had one of the executive suites for two, it was really lovely and had absolutely everything you need, including provision of water, coke, coffee, fruit juices, tea and breakfast toasts and bathroom items and towels. Everyone was very pleasant and the location is outstanding. Learn where the entrance is before you go-do not rely on finding it in the square as it is not at all clearly marked. Lovely apartment for the night and would have loved to stay for many more days. My only tiny complaint is that it's easy to assume the extra €20 for "monument view" would be the monuments on the square itself, but it isn't, we had the monument view but it was just rooftops and people's scaffolding and back windows with maybe a tiny view of a turret of something. Didn't take away from how lovely the room and people were for us though. Thank you!

It has taken me too long to write this review...
We stayed here at the end of April 2013 with our two daughters (12 and 10) It was just perfectly located and spotlessly clean and well appointed.
We stepped outside the door and were actually IN the Piazza Signoria. Any additional cost is far outweighed by the savings in precious time in this extraordinary city.
While in Florence don't miss the hot beef roll at Nerbone in the Mercato Centrale.

I am a bit late with this review, but better late than never. My husband and I stayed with another couple for 4 nights at Relais Piazza Signoria. We both had one bedroom executive studio apartments and they were fantastic. Very roomy, clean and modern and we were on the 5th floor. Could not have needed anything more.

The location is the best. It is right in the centre of Piazza Signoria where there are restaurants galore and plenty of shopping as well. Just walk out the main door of the apartment building and take your pick of many alfresco dining options. You are right in the middle of everything that is happening and really feel like you are a part the Italian lifestyle. Views from the apartment window over the piazza where a bonus as well. Noise was not an issue for us.

We arrived by train and it was only a ten minute taxi ride to the apartments, the Uffizi Gallery was in close proximity along with other attractions and we thoroughly enjoyed the apartments and their location.

There was a manned reception desk all day and the staff were very helpful with anything we required. If you want to be a part of the action and soak up the Italian culture I would definitely recommend Relais Piazza Signoria. Fantastic apartments.

Room Tip: Executive studio apartments with a view over the Piazza - you can't go wrong.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel, though it felt like we were able to experience living inner city like a local - it was great! The location is incredible and it is quite modern with excellent value for money. The rainfall shower was amazing! The building has a lift and the reception is only open from 9am - 6pm, so if you are going to arrive late, be sure to let the concierge know in advance. The only downfall about this property is that our room had quite a bad sewerage smell which made it unpleasant to return to at the end of the a long day. Aside from this, we would highly recommend this hotel to others and we will definitely return here next visit.

Me and my partner have just arrived home from 5 days in Florence Italy, we stayed in Relais Piazza Signoria and did not regret it. The hotel is bang in the middle of the incredible city and very easy to access. Inside, the decor was very pleasant and inviting, just what you would expect of a hotel. On arrival, the receptionist was very helpful and polite, we particularly appreciated her informing us of the nearest supermarket and the best sites to see around Florence. We already had an idea of what our apartment would look like from the pictures provided online, the room was 100x better then expected and the view almost too good to be true.
Our room was cleaned every day and although we had a room with a view, we slept well every night. The ambiance of the square outside the hotel was the best. I would strongly recommend a room with a view, perfect for people watching and getting a feel of the city.
Overall, the hotel was one of the best I have experienced, cannot pick any faults and it really rounded off our trip.

Room Tip: Room overlooking the square

First of all, not everyone expects the same of an accommodation. Meaning, if I like something, it doesn’t mean that you (the reader) will also like this hotel.

We came to Florence to visit all the wonderful things the city has to offer.
The sights are awesome, but the city is totally overrun by tourists and a complete mad house!
We went not even in high season but still felt like rats in a cage.
The “Relais Piazza Signoria” was a true oasis from all the madness for us, and we tremendously enjoyed it!

Just a note: This is not a regular hotel, but a small apartment building.
From the outside you might not even recognize the house as some kind of accommodation.
Hotel offers a lift (a very small one). No breakfast.
Hotel staff has office hours, but you can reach someone 24/7.

If you want a “normal”, international chain hotel – this may not be for you.
The Relais Piazza Signoria offers simple living with a stylish note at all kinds of prices.

I know that many people are looking for first class and want it for free.
Remember, this is Florence! The city is EXPENSIVE – whatever you do!
However, in comparison to other hotels in the city, this was well worth every penny for us.

Choosing an accommodation, for us important are:
1. Location
2. Service
3. Cleanliness
4. Room / Quiet room
5. “Design”

1. Location:
We wanted a hotel in the historical center in order to easily walk everywhere.
The hotel “Relais Piazza Signoria” is right at the corner of the Piazza Signoria, and some of the rooms offer wonderful views of the Piazza while in the quiet safety of your room.
Taxi ride from/to airport (depending on traffic): about 25 minutes
Walk to Duomo: about 2 minutes
Walk to Galleria dell Accademia: about 8 minutes
Walk to Ponte Vecchio: about 90 seconds
2. Service:
I expect friendliness, efficiency and help, when we need it.
The Relais Piazza Signoria more than fulfilled all these requirements without ever coming across as being pushy or “we know better than you anyways”.
Not only did the staff answer all our questions and give us recommendations for restaurants etc. They also took time to talk to us – us thereby learning a lot about Florence and Italy.
We almost felt like talking to friends here.
3. Cleanliness:
4. Room / Quiet room:
Our purpose for a hotel room is to stay and SLEEP in it. I am waking at the tiniest bit of noise.
Of course, you never can guarantee not to have rowdy hotel guests that spoil it all for you. But street noise and such is something that you can avoid.
Upon booking, we asked for a quiet room with a view of the Piazza. We stayed in apartment 505.
High enough up so that street noise did not bother me.
Beautiful view of the square and some of the surrounding hills.
(Only one morning there was a charity event going on – of course, then you got all the announcements and music and such from Piazza Signoria where the starting point and finishing line was…)
5. Design:
Clean cut stylishness, yet somewhat cosy.
Bathroom – a DREAM!!!

Bottom line:
We absolutely LOVE this hotel!
It was OUR perfect stay in Florence, and I can only recommend it!

Thanks to the ENTIRE staff at the hotel again for making us feel welcome and well cared for!
