We stayed here 2 nights and it was a throughly enjoyable experience.
Faminia frequently asked if she could aid us in any way.
She secured reservations at Galleria degli Uffizi and Galleria dell' Accademia, which saved us alot of time.
Faminia also made suggestions and secured reservations at 2 wonderful 'non-tourist' restaurants. Just tell her what kind of food you enjoy.
Breakfast was a treat with fresh pastry and a nice selection of fruit etc. Very relaxing on the backyard terrace.
Faminia was very engaging with all her guests. We were impress with her command of both english and french.
Location is convenient to mass transit ans parking was readily available.

Room Tip: From what we could see any room would be a good choice. Ours was on the street side but it was very...

We stayed here from August 29-September as a family of five taking 3 rooms total. The rooms were a nice size, very clean and comfortable. The location was nice because it is away from the congestion of downtown Florence in a more residential neighbourhood, but still an easy distance from the city gates. We were able to park our car in front of the house easily and if we wanted to drive down the hill and park to walk into downtown Florence (cars are not allowed from early morning until 8pm) it was easy to do.

Laurence, our onsite host had some great restaurant recommendations for us. He made reservations for us and helped to steer us away from the more touristy ones on our list. The restaurants he sent us to were local favourites and we had fantastic meals.

Breakfast we served downstairs on a garden terrace that was comfortable with a nice selection of pastries, fruit, bread, cheese, cappuccino and teas. It was very relaxing and easy going.

I would recommend this B&B, especially if you want to be a little farther out from the city center in a quieter more intimate setting, yet have easy access to the centre of Florence.

Stayed two nights on a quick return visit to Firenze. Found this B&B on TA and the reviews were spot on. First and foremost, the hostess Flaminia is truly wonderful. She chatted with us everytime we saw her, showed us pictures of her family and told us stories about the B&B. But where she really shone was with her baking for breakfast. Her baking was spectacular, the best breakfast we had at a B&B on our trip. She must get up very, very early as you can tell the care and attention gone into the food. The setting for breakfast as well, being on a terrace outside overlooking a private garden was wonderful.

Our room was excellent as well, very comfortable bed, small but adequate shower, and lovely finishings. Our room opened to a balcony outside with a stunning view of the centre of Firenze, with the Duomo squarely in your view. Just beautiful.

People talk about the walk in and yes, it is very do-able, other than if you are wearing dress shoes. All downhill into town, entering the "other" side of the river in the neighbourhood called Otrarno, before crossing one the famous bridges into the centre. Of course, downhill into town means uphill coming home. While a bit out of the centre, the location benefits from being very, very quiet.

My wife wanted to dress up a couple of times we went out, so we mixed up walking with taking taxis. A few hints, a taxi to the Academia (where David is) which is across downtown and pretty much as far as you would go from the B&B is about 12 to 14 euros. You can get to the centre for a couple of euros less. A good hint if you want to save to much walking but also save on taxis, is to take a taxi just to Santo Spirito on the Otrarno side of the river, only about 6 to 8 euros from the hotel. This is where the best, and less touristy, restaurants are, and then it is a short walk across the bridges into the centre. If you take a taxi home from this area at the end of your day, it will not be expensive and you will save the uphill walk.

We stayed at SanGaggio House for our first two nights in Italy and loved it. There were many things to love about it - the wonderful view of Florence from our balcony, the fresh croissants and pastries for breakfast, the quite location away from town. The best, though, was the wonderful service we received from our host Flaninia. She made us feel so welcome. When I called to confirm, I asked her if she could help us preboook our Museam tickets, which she did happily and it saved us long lines. She gave us a map and showed us the best walking routes to all of the sites and gave us wonderful recommendations for restaurants. She even helped us secure our rental car the day we left. Every time we saw her she asked how our room was and if we needed anything. She made us feel so comfortable that I felt like we were leaving the home of a good friend when we said goodbye.

The room itself was a bit small, but there was closet space and a rack for our bags. We also had A/C and a small refrigerator and for the amount of time we spent in the room, it was fine for us. The breakfast area was so cozy with tables outside in a little veranda area. Flamnia offered us cappuccino each day, and the fresh juices were to die for. The lcoation was great if you want a perfect view and no traffic noise. We did have to walk a little further than we expected and there is a pretty steep hill to get home, but that climb is what gave us our view. The restaurants that were recommended were not too far and the food was so good, we were happy to walk off our meals.

Thanks, Flaminia for making our time in Florence so enjoyable.

Room Tip: call and ask for a room with a view.

Our family of five stayed at San Gaggio House Bed and Breakfast from August 29 - September 1 for a family reunion. This b and b was the perfect place for our family to reconnect. Starting with my initial request for reservations with Flaminia, and all the way through our stay with Laurence as our onsite host, our experience could not have been better.

We chose this location in the Oltrarno (across the Arno River) because we did not want to be within the confines of downtown Florence with its congestion, heat and noise, but we also wanted to be close enough to walk everywhere. There is free and easy parking right in front of the house if you have a car. Because cars are not allowed into downtown Florence from early morning until after 8:00 PM, we drove down the hill and easily parked near the city gates and walked in. From there, you can also get one of the many city buses into the heart of the tourist area. If you don't have a car, there is close, easy and frequent bus service just down the hill from the b and b, and of course, taxis are everywhere, and not expensive (by San Francisco standards).

Another reason for choosing San Gaggio was that the price was right for us, given that we needed three rooms.

A continental breakfast is served every morning on the garden terrace on nice days, or in the very comfortable dining room on cool or rainy days. This room became our family gathering place. The sleeping rooms are not small but rather good sized, with very comfortable beds, in spite of the fact that they were more firm than we were accustomed to. We were all surprised how well we slept.

Laurence's advice on where to dine each evening was invaluable. He directed us to truly local spots that we would never have found on our own. Incredible meals with real Tuscan cooking. He also helped us by doing our laundry for a nominal fee.

I would highly recommend San Gaggio House to anyone looking for reasonably priced accommodations outside the city confines of Florence.

We stayed at San Gaggio house for four nights on our recent visit to Italy and found it to be a great home away from home. We loved our room on the second floor with a small balcony overlooking the city of Florence and an excellent bathroom. Situated in a quiet, elegant suburb about 20 minutes walk from the city centre, the location is perfect and offers an opportunity to experience authentic Florentine living. Flaminia is a superb host. Her warmth, humour and excellent advice on local restaurants and attractions made our stay a very memorable one. Excellent value, highly recommended.

Excellent stay in this B&B recently. Great service, great staff, really nice breakfast and only a 20min walk in to the main centre of Florence (or there is a bus). We had a hire car and found that getting to the B&B and parking was very easy. Highly recommended.
