“Modern & clean but too far away”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

We spent a weekend in Florence and chose this hotel mainly because so many reviews of other more central hotels said they were noisy and/or falling apart. The AC Firenze is far from this - perfectly spotless and totally quiet each night.

The staff were lovely and helpful and breakfast was delicious, but we were shocked that at the price we paid there was only 1 hour of free wifi - and in the lobby, not in the room!

I'm sure this hotel is great for a business trip but if you want to explore Florence it's simply too far away - it was a 25-30 minute walk to the Duomo and the surrounding area. It also lacks any personality - there are no views and no artwork, so you could be in any European city. On the map it appears to be close to the train station but in reality (with suitcases) you have to take a cab.

Bottom line, it's clean, comfortable, but not great for sightseeing or romance - which is why you're in Florence most likely!

Modern hotel a little away from the centre of the city. Room was great, modern and clean plus a good sized bathroom with a bath. Nice lounge, bar area with good wifi once you worked out how to use it. Dinner and breakfast were at best adequate. Staff friendly and went out of their way to help.

Very nice hotel, close from the International Airport (10 min drive) and very well connected (tram and bus) to the city center.
Nice rooms, very comfortable.
At the ground floor you have a nice bar, where you can take an aperitive or eat.
They also have an indoor parking.

Feels very American. Renovated rooms that are nice, modern and clean. Rooms are big for a European hotel. The lobby is fairly busy so you probably won't want to hang out and relax. Breakfast is included and it's fine. It's well located to go see the sights. 10 or 15 minute cab ride, or the train is practically outside the front door. Don't expect to get the full Florence ambiance, but you'll be comfortable.

Room Tip: There is no view from any direction of the hotel except down onto an old building and some homes, so...

This hotel is situated near the centre, a bit to far to walk but possible. The staff was friendly, the rooms very nice the only thing; there is no wifi in the rooms unless you pay for it. The free wifi down in the lobby is ok but I wondered why not in the room with a bit more privacy.
The breakfast was for Italian standards very good; fresh fruit, espresso's, and nice breads.
In the winter time the only thing they should check is the airco. It was to hot! I had to turn it down!

Room Tip: I had a room on the 4th floor, they were ok, the moment you have to open the window there is some no...

The hotel is great for Business Travel, very close to the Tram, 5 Euros for 24 hour unlimited rides, brings you right to Santa Maria Novella Train Station.

This hotel reminds me of a Courtyard by Marriott, but with a better job of pulling off the Modern design. The room was nice, the bathroom was great, except if you are sharing a room, the glass door doesn't block out any sound (if you are using it at night while the other person is trying to sleep).

I used points, and was informed that as a Platinum my free breakfast didn't count as I used points, and that it would be 12 Euros each. I could have paid 88 Euros for the room, and gotten breakfast for free. The city of Florence has a tax of 1 Euro per Star, per person, per night. They claim this is a 4 star hotel. Sorry, it's far from it. I paid the city tax in Rome for 3 nights at the Rome Cavalieri and that was 6 Euros, this cost me 16. Sorry city of Florence, but you really need to re-evaluate what makes 4 stars.

The hotel was great, but if you are a Marriott Rewards Member, I would not waste the points, pay for this room with cash.

Room Tip: Don't use Marriott Rewards Points, pay cash. You will have to pay 12 Euros each for breakfast i...

Modern room and bathroom but very small. TV not modern though. They don't seem to have hair conditioner in any Italy hotel so bring if you need it.

The location is a good 15-20 min walk from any of the sights or shopping. Beware of dining in Florence---tons of tourist traps. Consult fodors, frommers or rick Steve's for recommendations.
