“Big rooms”
Reviewed 6 July 2012

Rooms were a nice size plus large bathroom with great counter space. When we arrived the AC wasn't working in our room and we were promptly changed (Italy is in a heat wave so that was awesome!) to a room that had a working unit. I am 50/50 on the location - its right next to the Uffizi but if you are coming in by train its a haul if you don't get a taxi. Everything is within walking distance though. There were a couple of times that we were kind of put off by the customer service - Walked in to the front desk concierge arguing with someone and we could hear it in our room even after we got our key and scurried away. Then when we asked for towels one night (they had taken them but not replaced them) and the man seemed kind of frustrated that either I wanted towels or that they had taken them without replacing them. Not sure. Overall they seemed very annoyed when asked for something but ended it with a smile. Very confusing but maybe we just caught them at off times.

Room Tip: First floor had better AC - rooms facing street have noise at night (street sweepers!)

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We would recommend it to anyone. We booked two rooms off the internet and could not believe how well-placed this hotel is. Uffizi and Piazza delle Signoria are right on your doorstep while the Duomo and Santa Croce are five minutes walk. The via dei Neri that connects you to the Uffizi and Piazza delle Signoria is a delightful shopping strip with all sorts of quirky places to shop and eat. You are right in the centre of the leather specialists here. The hotel is one of the best three star hotels we have stayed in for the price we paid. The staff were very friendly and ready to help, the rooms were very clean and comfortable. You don't expect huge rooms in Italian hotels but then this is Florence and you hardly want to spend much time in your room do you? And for gluten-intolerant people, this hotel offers a gluten-free breakfast and they were very attentive to the needs of our guests who had this condition. We will definitely make this hotel our Firenze home away from home.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking onto the courtyard.

After our first stay here, I made sure we stayed there again upon our second visit. Both times I had a mixed group of teens and adults and Hotel Fiorino served all of us well. It is just off the river and two blocks from Piazza della Signoria, which means it is a few minutes from the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Leaving the hotel at dawn, I was able to walk and take photos at the duomo, Piazza Santa Croce, across the Ponte Vecchio to Piazza de Pitti and Santo Spirito, all in about an hour and a half. Granted, I am a fast walker. It is a place where I feel safe and comfortable. Yes, you do have to lug your suitcases up a set of stairs to check in, but it is worth the quiet and comfort. Breakfast is included and the variety is super and satisfying.

We stayed out of the room as long as we could. Adequate only. Very overpriced. moved next day to a really good four star at the same place. Described to us as cute and cosy. Neither cute nor cosy. Definitely wouldnt recommend or stay there again. Staff neither friendly or unfriendly

Room was $229 U.S. for the one night. First we had to lug our suitcases up a steep staircase to get to the lobby. Room was not ready. Right at the lobby was our room's door, picture an apartment with a tiny family room, and our "bedroom" was right there, you open the door from the lobby and you were in our room. So all night long as people came to and from the front desk we could hear every word, or if the phone rang, as there was a 1" gap under the door which let in all sound. We had to get up at 3:00am to catch our flight and got zero sleep. When we got up, we had to hand our large clunky room key to the office clerk, and he was asleep on the couch, awkward! This was the only place after 2 weeks that charged us for WiFi. Room was nothing special, looked old fashion (in a bad way).

I stayed two nights over the weekend. I asked for a double even though I was travelling alone. The room was quite small (2 people would have been VERY cramped) - and while the bathroom was clean the shower was small. I'm 5"10, 165 lbs, so fairly slim and I had a hard time turning around without hitting the faucet. While the small bathroom was clean, the room was quite shabby - cracks in the walls, worn furniture, mattress sagged and was on a steel spring frame. The breakfast was almost adequate, but not quite (if they put out a few more croissant it would have been OK). The locations is great - 2 to 3 blocks from the Uffizi, but it's best to spend more if you have to be in the area or go further afield for a nicer room. Florence is pretty small (though I am from NYC) so walking from neighborhood to neighborhood is pretty easy.

Room Tip: Ask for the room in the pictures.

Dear client, we understand that you arrived in a very buisy week end anywa:
1) We do not have cracks in the wall, especially in May the rooms are restored and fresh painted. You stayed in May don't you? Your room was pale green painted.
2)Your room and bathroom were both not too big, it is true. Generally that room is for short staying. but it is good for 2 people also
3) the steel spring frame: sorry perhaps you don't like old florentine style in ferro battuto.
4) croissant are available until 10 o'clock, the end time foer breakfast. Probably you arrived late. Don't you?
Anyway we are sorry that you cannot suggest the Hotel tio other friends.
