“Thank you Hotel Silla”
Reviewed 28 April 2013

Stayed many times at the Hotel for work but this time took relations who have never visited Florence before
The staff whee excellent everyone had great rooms, breakfast was self service and as you would expect in Italy Bread , meat cheese etc.
The hotel is in a great location across from the river and being able to see Florence,
away from the crowds but literally only a ten minute walk to the city and its famous bridges and statues
I'm not sure about parking if you hire a car as we arrived via a taxi but it does seem rather congested with parked cars certainly late at night
Over the hotel Silla is a very nice and reasonably priced hotel and have no hesitation in recommending it
Thank you to all the staff for a most enjoyable long weekend in Florence

Near to the Michelangelo steps, and surrounded by little cafes and bars this is a great place to start your day. You can walk along to the The Ponte Vecchio in about 5 mins and be in the heart of the city in 15min. This location gives you some space and a calmer atmosphere to relax in, and florence is a very busy city, so we loved this aspect.
The hotel is a traditional old italian hotel, with high ceilings and stone floors; it has character and is well maintained. We had huge windows overlooking a bustling back street.
The breakfast is typical european fare, we would have liked a bit more fruit and veg (tomatos), but there were lots of nice breads, pastries and plenty of cheeses and hams.
The staff were lovely and there is a beautiful balcony area looking out towards the river, I believe this is where they serve breakfast in the hotter parts of the year. We left some items behind and they posted them back to us with no fuss.

This was my third stay at the fabulous Hotel Silla. We traveled in early October and the weather was perfect, the days were sunny and the evenings cool. The staff was by far the best we have experienced, from the service at the complimentary breakfast to the nightcap at the bar. Our maid was considerate as was as efficient and always left the room immaculate.
Our location, being just over the bridge was convenient to all the famous tourist sights as well as just a short walk to some hidden eateries. We asked several times for directions as well as recommendations for dinners, at the front desk and were never disappointed by their local knowledge. and exquisite taste fr the best food.

Hopefully we will stay there again next October.

Room Tip: We have enjoyed a second floor overlooking the patio.

Can't say enough great things about this hotel. Clean, large rooms. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Good breakfast. Quiet location just steps from the action. Excellent restaurants just around the corner. Loved the back patio for an afternoon latte and gelato! Loved the Hotel Silla!

My family stayed at Hotel Silla during April of 2013. We found the hotel to be very conviently located; it is near enough to the tourist sites and main part of the city that it is convient, but far enough away to be quiter and a little more local. The restaurants in the area were all very good as well. The staff are great and were very helpful in making dinner suggestions, reservations, and tour reservations for us. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is cute, but the entrance way was under construction when we visited and you had to drag your luggage up a few steps before you can reach an elevator to the next floor. It was not within walking distance from the train with luggage. The staff did my go out of their way to accommodate us in any way. The restaurant and bar were empty every time we checked. The hotel and room decor are cute and the room was clean (except for a stinky comforter) but that's about it. The view from our room was great and it was only a short walk from Ponte Vecchia

Thank you for taking the time to write your review about our hotel.
I just would like all our readers to know there are indeed 5 steps to reach the elevator but our staff is always ready and willing to help with luggage and any other guests' need. We are working to solve this limit but things are never simple and quick with a XVI century building in Italy (as it has to be, this is why you can still admire our historical architecture).
Thank you for you kind words about the staff although they don't match your "service rating".
