Go to Cammillo for an authentic Florentine meal
pepared from scratch in a spotless kitchen.
This is the real deal- a local restaurant favored by locals a tourists alike.
Soup, fish, pasta, chicken beef, veal all presented in a timely but unhurried
fashion. We went twice in one week-the table wines(red or white) are excellent.
The starters and main courses are delicious. I recommend sharing highly in this restaurant because the portions are generous.
The service is freindly and impeccable..
And, by Florentine standards, the price is reasonable- about 60-70 euros for two with
a half carafe of wine. Make early reservations(730 PM) to get a good table.
You will not be disappointed. KMeloff Toronto

We went with friends after a day visit to Florence. We loved our meal! But when you go to this Trattoria you need to know what to order. Cammillo is famous for their fried food! Make sure to get their fried vegetables (wonderful fritto misto and the fiori di zucca) and their home made fries. Their pasta selection is not large, and I would stay clear of it. We had a wonderful Fiorentina steak done to perfection and we truly enjoyed it. This is a typical Florentine high-end restaurant and it has a real Italian feel, and a friendly atmosphere, but if you do not know what to order it can be tricky. Their wine menu was over-priced, but their house wine (vino della casa) was relatively cheap and of great quality. We ended the meal with Cantuccini and vin santo, which I would completely recommend. All in all a very good restaurant, not overly catering to tourist, which in itself is a wonder in Florence. Oh, and... don't arrive early to a dinner reservation in Italy! We were 10 minutes late and they were really nice to us. We will definitely go back.

This trattoria looks the business - staff in white shirts and bow ties.
The menu has lots of deep fried dishes, some served with crisps.
Pasta was meant to be with anchovies - no fish to be seen but they had left some flavour.
Grilled boneless rabbit was just that - absolutely nothing else.
Should I blame myself for choosing badly? I don't think so at those prices.

The place is simply decorated and clean. However the price is not comaptible with the quality of food. Shrimp with rice curry was half cooked. Artichock salad was plain and tasteless. Ribolito was clampy with too much bread. We showed up 15 min before the reserved time and were asked to wait outside while the restorant was compleately empty. 15 min into the dinner, the owner loudly repromended the waiter for sitting us at our table because it was promissed to another customer.
Overall we were left with a bad taste in our mouth. We will never come back and will recommend to avoid the overpriced and unfriendly place.

after our amazing dinner the night before the pasta here was a little disappointing. Service was great but overall it reminds me of something we could get here in the states, not very fresh tasting. Again we were sat in the section with no other patrons and it was a little sad. Not sure why we keep getting seated where no one else is but it puts a damper on the overall experience.
