We enjoyed the Dedo boutique hotel, it took us twelve minutes to walk from Santa Maria Novella Station through the narrow street to the hotel. The street door is open nearly always, ascend the stairs to the small lift, go to the third floor and the hotel is on your left as you exit, through a heavy well made door.
Our bedroom was a triple room, which had a good double and a single bed, it was the last room available when we booked but I suited us perfectly. It had a view onto a quiet inner terrace. The bathroom worked well for us too, the shower worked well with sliding doors, which kept the in, unlike some other showers we have used. The bedroom had tissues, bins and a kettle. They are well kept by the hard working staff, always the unsung heroes of a good hotel.
Breakfast is good, 7am to ten in the morning, a continental, with a tart, cakes, hams, cheese, croissants etc. The coffee is not perfect, but acceptable. The staff are good, each day our welcome became warmer and we were sad to wave goodbye.
The hotel is away from the city centre but a fifteen minute walk along the river brings you to the Ponte Vecchio bridge, or take the streets lined by shops and delight in the various trades, antique shops, bars and occasional restaurant. We found the hotel to be a calming place and would certainly stay there again. Thank you!
