After a whirlwind 8 days of travel my wife and I chose this perfect resting stop to close out our trip. My wife was able to join a cooking class led by Silvia where they made a sumptuous dinner. I provided the heavy work by consuming this culinary treat! Fiesole was a simple 10 minute drive and we found a farmers market there as well as a hike suggested by our hosts with fabulous views and good villa peaking. It's steep though! Our bed and shower were the best I've ever had on a trip. Oversized shower head ideal for a big guy. Lovely breakfast with local treats. Run, don't walk, to this heaven.

I had the pleasure of spending three nights in this charming B&B and fully enjoying the beauty of the Tuscan hills, the peaceful atmosphere and the warmth of the hosts. We stayed in the room called "Orciaia" which covered us in owe once we got there: the room is gigantic and characterized by a balance of traditional tuscan style furnitures and modern amenities which made us fall in love with the room immediately. Remarkable were the textiles used for the sofas, armchairs and bed and the lights were cleverly positioned around the room in order to make it feel welcoming and relaxing. IMPORTANT: most of the rooms available at Villa di Campolungo are not advertised on Booking.com. It is worth the effort of emailing the B&B directly to get a personally suited offer and a wider choices of rooms.
The breakfast was an experience by itself: not the width of choice of important chain hotels, but this is largely compensated for by the quality of the products served (homemade bread and cakes every morning!). It only took us 20 minutes to reach Florence's city centre by car and we got used soon to the 200m of unpaved road that lead to the Villa. Very good to be able to talk to the hosts before and during the stay about how to organize and make the most out of our holiday, feature which is only possible in small-sized hotels like this one. The dog was a lot of fun and even my 8-years-old son who is usually skeptical about animals familiarized with her.

Room Tip: Not all rooms advertised on booking.com. Email the B&B directly for a wider choice of rooms, for...

This remote, quiet place (still a 10mins drive from Fiesole center) at the end of a dirt road is in the middle of a typically beautiful tuscan olive plant setting and cured with a lot of attention to details. The rooms (the best ones are truly large suites) are simple, but gorgeously rustique and inspire to let lose and read a book or daydream, the memory foam mattresses provide an excellent sleep. Breakfast is plentyful with some homemade bread and cupcakes and things the local farmers produce. The owners are calm, gentle and very helpful, when it comes to questions about the area, what to do, where to eat or any special "needs" like an unexpectedly but badly needed plate of pasta al pomodoro (although they don't serve lunch or dinner normally). Guides, magazines and books about Tuscany or Italy are in every room.

November is a good time to be at Campolungo and enjoy our cozy and warm rooms and the nature better than ever.
It is lovely that you appreciated long sleeps on the high qualty mattresses.
We are pleased that we could do something for you, as cooking a good plate of pasta for you, since you were tired.
We hope to see you again

We stayed at the Villa Di Campolungo for three nights. It is a challenge to find, but very convenient for trips to Fiesole and Firenza. Our room was very pleasant with lots of room and a great bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and the view from the outdoor terrace where we ate was outstanding.

Staff was helpful in telling us how to catch a local bus into Firenza, since we wanted to avoid parking in the city.

This was our second stay in an agriturismo and we loved it. We will certainly stay here again.

Last year in April my wife and I spent 2 weeks at Campolungo, we still talk about how beautiful and ideal this location was for our trip. We were able to easily travel to Florence by bus and train and take a nice long walk home in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings. We then rented a car and was easily able to visit local towns in which Silvia made great recommendations. We would return, stopping at the local market and enjoy eating our dinner on the terrace. We would then wake up to the fantastic breakfast. My sister in law and husband joined us for a few days and they also loved it. Sylvia and Eric make you feel welcomed, it's truly a special place!

Room Tip: Orciaia room was amazing. Great views, very roomy.

We stayed here in August, with the idea of exploring the real Tuscany. We had no expectations prior to arrival, but soon became exhilarated by the beauty of the setting ,and the Villa which turned out to be Better Than Perfect. The real Tuscany unfolded in front of eyes, and stimulated all our senses. The proprietors 'bent over backwards' to make sure we were comfortable in every way.To have a fantastic breakfast consisting of locally sourced ingredients, overlooking the valley, cannot be surpassed .Thanks to Villa Di Campolungo ,we talk in raptures about our trip to Tuscany, and cannot wait to visit again.

My husband and I stayed at Campolungo for a week at the end of July. It was absolute heaven. If you ever get the chance to get to Tuscany, this is the place you HAVE to stay. My husband and I are already thinking of how quickly we can get back.

To start, the property is lovely. It is down a long winding road from the main highway, on a hill, overlooking the Tuscan countryside. In the distance you can see Fiesole, bustling away. The house is gorgeous and exactly what you would expect in Tuscany. We stayed in the Annex suite and it was large, beautifully decorated, very peaceful and elegant.

Sylvia is the proprietor and she is just a gem. She helped us figure out how to get to all of our day trips (Siena, Lucca (twice), Florence, Via Reggio and Pisa). In fact, she also connected us with a tour guide in Florence, Johanna, who was incredible as well.

Sylvia is a phenomenal cook so breakfasts always include freshly baked bread, cake, proscioutto, cheese, etc. Needless to say, my husband and I ate far more then we needed to but it was just delicious. Breakfast was on the terrace outside, overlooking that beautiful view and it was just a lovely way to start the day. As well, every morning we seemed to meet some lovely people! Each morning we had lovely chats with other guests and we met people from all over Europe.

Sylvia also has one of the most beautiful dogs I have ever met ... Lilleya. I am likely misspelling her name but she is a beautiful, gentle, playful German Sheppard. We played with her every day. If we could have snuck her into our suitcases and brought her back to Canada, we would have! For those dog lovers out there, Lilleya is just a treasure.

Campolungo is a very special place - if you need to relax, are on a honeymoon or just want a special vacation, this is the spot for you. A little piece of Italian heaven.

Thanks a lot to you and to your husband, we still remember those lovely mornings this summer, having, as always, such nice people at Campolungo!
Thank you again for your poetic image of a "long winding road" taking to Campolungo: it makes me dream.
Our dog Lilla is doing well and...still playing with lttle rocks!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Villa di Campolungo is the manor-house of a farming estate, surrounded by olive trees, whose origins go far back in time, so much so, that already in 1427 mention was made of it as an "elegant residence". The compound is structured as a tiny hamlet overlooking the gentle Tuscan countryside. It is situated on a hill in the heart of the Mugnone Valley, in the Municipality of Fiesole, a place of uncontaminated beauty, which falls under certain landscape and environmental constraints but which is also strategically near the centre of Florence. The Villa is owned by an Italo-Norwegian family that has devoted itself with great passion and enthusiasm to the refurbishment of the buildings, employing traditional materials and to the re-organization of the farm, which is now once again starting to produce small quantities of the most prestigious extra-virgin olive oil and wine grapes.Six charming rooms, all refurbished with the greatest of care so as not to forego the taste for local traditions, have been derived from the ancient farmhouse and orciaia. Their interiors are decorated in country style, reconciling contemporary taste with period furniture, hand made cotto and fabrics and upholstery of the Tuscan tradition. Guests are welcomed with the warmth and kindness that is normally reserved to family friends and may enjoy all the comforts of a modern accommodation while immersing themselves in nature. ... more   less
