We had a fabulous stay at Villa Fiesole Hotel. The hotel staff are amazing, warm, service oriented people. We planned my 50th birthday party celebration and it was a beautiful evening with eight of our Italian friends who live in Florence. We were all very impressed with every moment of the evening. The food in the restaurant is excellent as was the service. We've stayed in many five star hotels in Florence; and Villa FiesoleHotel is the best hotel in Florence. Our hats off to the staff that made our experience wonderful: Christiani, Leonardo, Augusto, Danieli, Augusto, Lorrain, Louisa (best chef in Florence). From top to bottom this hotel is a find. The property is very lovely and overlooks the city of Florence for some of the most spectacular views you'll ever see. The hotel is a perfect base for all your Tuscan travels. You can take day trips to all the neighboring cities and towns and still enjoy the country. We will always stay at Villa Fiesole Hotel when in Florence as we have found a true gem . Thank you!

Room Tip: .rooms off the front terrace area are very nice

I just spent 4 nights here with my daughter. We arrived late in the evening and were shown to a room in the old part of the hotel. It was large but rather tired in its decoration, and I was disappointed given the photos of the hotel on TripAdvisor. I went down to the desk and told them I wasn't crazy about our room, and he said he would move us first thing in the morning. He was true to his word, and we were moved to one of the newer rooms, much like the ones on the website. The staff were very helpful in suggesting good local restaurants, of which there are several. We kept thinking we would go back into Florence at night for dinner, but once you are back up the mountain, having a prosecco on the terrace with a gorgeous view and a breeze, you really don't want to travel, and you don't have to! The bus into Florence is perfect--quick, easy, cheap, and I never had to use my car except to go into the center of Fiesole for dinner. The breakfast, which is on the terrace, is very nice. My only suggestion is that for this price point, it would be nice to have a few amenities, like real glasses in the rooms instead of plastic. The pool area is also very small. We never had a chance to spend time at the pool, but it's definitely more of a plunge pool than a lap swimming pool. I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: The older rooms are larger, with high ceilings and large bathrooms. The newer rooms are more recent...

We liked this hotel a lot. It is outside Florence, about a mile from the village of Fiesole. There is a bus that runs to both Florence & Fiesole pretty often. The only part we didn't like about that is you have to stand on a very busy street with essentially nowhere to stand waiting for the bus. Also, coming back to the hotel one night, the 10:05 bus never came, and the 10:35 bus came on time but then the driver pulled over after a block & got off the bus, saying nothing. He came back after about 20 minutes but it was disconcerting because we had no idea what was happening.

The hotel itself was quite nice. Our room (115) was spacious and pretty with a beautiful ceiling. The bed was really hard, like every bed we had in Italy. It had a lovely, huge, private terrace which we loved. There are trees so you can't really see all of Florence, and the busy road is right there so it is noisy, but the terrace was very nice. Note that on May 20th the air-conditioning was not yet turned on and the room did get hot. There are no screens on the windows anywhere that we saw in Italy so bugs do come in. The bathroom, which was lovely, had a poorly designed or installed shower enclosure, resulting in us flooding the bathroom every time we showered, which was really annoying. We did report it to the front desk.

The hotel has a nice deck where you can have cocktails while overlooking Florence, and an excellent restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We would stay here again. Do NOT use a GPS to find this hotel - ours got us really lost, which was frustrating as the hotel is on a major road so should be easy to find. They do have a free parking lot.

Room Tip: We loved the private terrace in room 115

The Hotel location is perfect, perched on one of the hills overlooking Florence. It's a quick taxi ride into the centre of Florence but will cost you 40 Euros - ouch! However there is a regular bus which stops just outside of the hotel which costs 3 Euros! The views are are beautiful and its lovely and peaceful. I would be cautious if you are have a problem with mobility as there are a lot of steps and you have to carry your own bags up to the reception. In fairness I did notice a stair lift which could be used but you would have to alert a member of staff if you wanted to use it. The Hotel is fine for a short stay as the facilities are on a small scale especially the pool & surrounding area. There is a small dining room and lounge but the upper terrace is quite large and spacious again it has a beautiful view over the city. The bedroom and bathroom are ok, quite compact but very clean. However the bed was so uncomfortable - I like a firm mattress but this was the equivalent of sleeping on a park bench! with cheap polyester pillows to boot, so not impressive for a 4 star Hotel. The staff are friendly especially on the front desk but the waiting staff can be a little less attentive you may have to keep seeking their attention if you require service. The wifi is easy to access with out passwords etc. In conclusion the location is great but the hotel does n't quite meet its four star status.

Quaint out of the way hotel tucked away on a hillside overlooking Florence. Nice outdoor seating for breakfast. Large rooms, no elevators or lifts. High ceiling rooms with large bathrooms and a tub. Breakfast had good variety but bacon barely looked warm, let alone cooked. Staff was very helpful especially front desk manager. Street noise if your room faces the street. Hotel has 2 sections, one older with character and one newer tucked off street. Pool is nothing to write about just a cement pond. Would stay again but maybe try the newer version of hotel. Bus goes right by. Cab ride from Florence about $20 euros

Room Tip: Pick one off the street which has traffic all night long.

Just had four nights at the best hotel in Florence. The views from the hotel are breath taking, the staff are the must helpful hotel staff I have ever meet. There is free wi-fi all over the hotel with out a code. Happy days.. The rooms have a mini bar plus a TV the only thing is there was only one English tv station which was CNN and you get a safe in your room, one thing I will say there is no iron or ironing board in your room, you will need to pop to reception. One big pluses the number 7 bus and the Florence tour bus stops near the the hotel which is great to get into Florence. You can buy your bus tickets at the hotel reception. €4 for the local bus and the tour bus works out for two adults €36. Ps you must go to the local town of Fiesole. Just take the number 7 bus..

I was recently married near the hotel and all of our guests and family stayed at the Villa Fiesole. As most of the guests were there nearly a week during the kickoff the tourist season, almost all agreed that staying at this beautiful hotel in the hills above Florence was the perfect way to experience Florence.

We'd been to Florence several times and when the city is full of tourists and locals (and their whining Vespas), it can feel a bit hectic and often loud. The Villa Fiesole sits perched atop a hill providing a postcard view of the city below with the added backdrop of hills and trees that gives it a leisurely feel and a truly relaxing atmosphere a bit removed from the action below.

And that's merely the grounds and view. The inside offers a nice, service-oriented boutique hotel experience that has brought us back several times. The rooms are spacious and more along the size of a typical American hotel room...and offers AC in the summer months. The small, on-site restaurant offers a nice breakfast daily and a somewhat surprising high quality dinner service as well. Finally, as is often the case with a boutique property, the staff prides itself in providing a high-level of service. Whether it be making a dinner reservation, rushing home to retrieve cufflinks for the groom (me!) or carrying an endless supply of baggage, we always got a smiling face and a willingness to do anything that would make the stay complete. (Special kudos to Christina, Daniele, and "Gugo"!)

I can say that it would be difficult for me to consider any other hotel in the area especially if I was staying for any extended period of time where a break from the city would be appropriate.

* Note on location: While the hotel is about five miles from the Center and therefore nearly a 20 euro cab ride, there is a bus that stops right in front of the hotel (#7) that will carry you "up the hill" to the town square of Fiesole or down to Piazza San Marco which is a five minute stroll from the Duomo and nearly everything else. The front desk sells tickets at 1.50 euro each way...best deal ever and makes being removed some seem pretty minor.
