The walk up can be challenging for some but well worth it! Beautiful, peaceful. Amazing views, interesting grounds to explore. Unfortunately we were not able to have dinner at the restaurant.....next trip!

We were staying in Florence for 2 weeks and using it for our base to explore some of the surrounding areas. Fiesole is an easy and inexpensive bus ride from Florence. Grab the #7 bus from Piazza San Marco and 20-30 minutes later you are in Fiesole. Bus ticket is less then $2 USD and drops you off right in the main square of Fiesole. We knew nothing about the museum before arriving in Fiesole. I know, bad us for lack of planning! But we had read about the steep road to the top of a hill overlooking Florence in the distance so we wandered up the road. It is a great view but the best surprise (to us at the time) was this great little museum. It's also free! They take donations and we gladly tossed in a few euro. This museum has some interesting items in a few rooms (mummy, pottery, jewelry, art, coins, religious artifacts). There is even a small gift shop near the church where you can purchase the usual post cards, books and religious items as well as water and ice cream. There is a nice area to sit and enjoy the views of the convent. If you have an extra couple of hours while you are in Florence and want to get away from the massive amount of tourists give this small museum a look. It's well worth it.

It's a very steep climb to the Franciscan missionary , but when you get to the top the views are amazing . The church is very quaint . Worth visiting .

A very characteristic town, approx 15kms out of Florence it Is part of the 'hop on hop off tour bus' (b line). The bus stops for 35 minutes which enough time to visit the church & Franciscan monastery at the top of the hill & soak in Florence from high. Alternately you can wait for the next bus which come every hour. This Roman town existed prior to Florence & hence has much rich history. Worth spending an hour or so as part of the €20,00 'hop on hop off' bus tour of Florence.
