Fiesole is a hill town about ten kilometers from Florence. Around midday, we took a hop-on-hop-off bus ride to reach the picturesque small town. The journey through the meandering hilly road with beautiful trees around was pleasing to the eyes.Olive orchards and umbrella pines looked great. The bus stopped for a while on a wide plateau with a statue of David in the open. The panoramic view from the spot was amazing. Florence with its river and Duomo was really looking like a fairyland. On our way we could see the area associated with the life of Michelangelo. On reaching top, we came across the Cathedral, Roman open air Theatre with attractive arches and a few good eateries. Fiesole appeared to be cooler and quieter than Florence. The view of the horizon from the top was wonderful. The picture postcard view of the city of Florence impressed all. We returned to Florence late in the afternoon.
