“Tuscan classic”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

We were in Tuscany to watch the classic car race the Mille Miglia and found another classic!!!!
This special hotel is located in the peaceful Tuscan countryside close to the ancient town of Lucca. We had a wonderful two nights stay in the luxury boutique hotel. Our rooms were very large and beautifully decorated. The beds were so comfortable, with crisp white linen sheets and acres of space!!!!. Wonderful nights' sleep. We had a wine tasting course one night run by very knowledgable and friendly staff. We also ate in the hotel twice and each evening the food was delicious. Overall we had a very special weekend that we would love to repeat!!!!

Room Tip: our corner room with balcony was quiet, large and sunny.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the villa and it couldn't have been lovelier. We were with our daughter and grandchildren. The rooms were large and comfortable and the countryside is breathtaking. We loved strolling on the patios and drinking in the exquisite views. The breakfasts were lovely, and we had a wonderful celebratory dinner with the best cake ever. From there we went to Lucca, Pisa, the Italian Riviera and even Florence. I hope we'll return for a future celebration.

Everything about this property is wonderful! From the terrace, we were able to see the towers of Lucca in the distance. The countryside was just beautiful! We went into the kitchen with the chef to learn the secrets of making perfect risotto. The pool is the perfect place to relax, and our room was beautifully decorated and very spacious. We loved the feather pillows!
Thanks for a wonderful time, we will be sure to return.

We had a three night stay at villa Casanova in August 2013 ,initial impression was great beautifully kept garden and terrace with a fantastic view to lucca .We were greeted warmly by the owners Marianne and Adel and felt at ease immediately .The suite we were shown to blew us away it had a living area with fridge comfy sofa and tv this led to a balcony with a great view of Lucca. Things just got better the bedroom had a huge and extremely comfortable bed large tv and the furnishings and decor were so tastefull. Then just when we thought things couldn't get better we were shown the most amazing bathroom I,ve ever seen beautifull free standing bath large wet area. We had dinner each evening on the rear terrace next to the infinity pool looking down to Lucca food was all locally sourced each day simply delicious ,being a fussy eater I was,nt sure what I would be able to eat but Marieanne asked me what I liked phoned the chef who bought something suitable for me .This is the tone of villa Casanova nothing is a problem for Marianne and Adel.Breakfast on the front terrace was a beautifull cold buffet and / or freshly cooked anything you wanted fab .The villa Casanova is the most unique , luxurious yet laid back and friendly hotel we,ve ever stayed in we cannot wait to return which we definitely will be doing as soon as we have the opportunity ,simply fantastic.

We stayed for 3 nights in late July 2013. The property is quite lovely. Our room was extremely large, light, airy and well-appointed. The bathroom was huge ! The look is simple rather than dressy. That's the beauty of the place - not stuffy at all - a very relaxed and casual tone. You feel pampered, but not in an in-your-face kind of way. Food is plentiful and delicious and the meal settings are lovely - breakfast on the front patio and lunch/dinner on the pool patio. The infinity edge pool has a gorgeous view towards Lucca in the distance. Adel, the owner, is frequently present and makes sure things run smoothly. Always willing to help out with sightseeing ideas. He arranged a wonderful wine tasting for us at a vineyard about 25 minutes away. My only complaint (which Adel is aware he needs to resolve) is the lack of internet signal outside of the central core of the building. A few new routers will fix that. Otherwise a quite delightful stay.

We stayed here for 10 days as part of a relaxing holiday in northern Italy. Great team with good English that are very friendly and provide excellent service. They helped me out with a couple of complicated requests and they did everything the could to sort them out successfully.

Fantastic suites, only 14 in total and all of them spacious and well equipped. Good size lounge area with telly and a large fridge (so you can keep your own drinks cold, unlike other hotels where they pack them out) big bedroom and massive bathroom. Lovely pool with a great view down the valley to Lucca. Very peaceful and often the only sounds were the birds. Really good food, not cheap, but the food and service was the best we had in the region.

Thanks to Adel, Michela, Stephania and the rest of the team for a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the valley. Not a must have but it is the icing on the cake.

We have stayed at Albergo Villa Casanova for three nights and my only regret is that we have to leave. It is a wonderful hotel, and it is hard to believe there is any place much nicer to stay right near Lucca. The grounds are gorgeous and there is a lovely pool with spectacular views, as well as tennis, ping pong and other things for children as well as adults to do. The rooms are breathtaking, spacious and indeed five star with the most beautiful bathrooms, views, tasteful furnishings, beds that are hard to get out of (because so comfortable) and air conditioning. For breakfast, one sits overlooking stunning views of a local town with castle and Lucca in the distance. But as if all this was not enough, what makes the hotel so special is the gracious welcome from Micaela and her husband (who run the hotel) and make visitors feel very much at home. When my husband and two boys (13 and 14) arrived late from the airport, they made us sandwiches and brought us drinks, and we had a fantastic late dinner sitting outside by the pool overlooking the view--I should add we also found the food delicious and as good as going to a local restaurant in town. The hotel is very romantic for a couple but equally fantastic (and friendly) for families--kids meet each other and interact here regularly all the time, it seems. Thank you, Micaela!! Last, unlike other reviewers who have written, we find the location 9 kilometers outside Lucca to be quite easy once you get good directions (which Micaela and staff will give you): the hotel is beautifully situated in the country and yet we had great dinners in Lucca, and walked around this fantastic small city, getting to Lucca in no more than 10-15 minutes. Again, my only problem with the hotel is having to leave but we hope very much to be back in the not too distant future.
